Just booked a trip to Disney for me, my wife, and DS (7). We're going from April 2 thru the 9th and the 7th is our 10th anniversary. We're usually the eat and run type of family but I'd like for us to have a good sit down meal this one night. Can anyone recommend something that would suit us? Nothing too fancy smancy. Just somewhere with some good steak and shrimp type food where I could still get an ADR on this kind of a short notice. It'd be nice to time it with some fireworks but I know that may be a stretch.

We're going to drive through Daytona on the way on the 2nd and check out the pier. That's where my wife got down on one knee and proposed to ME. LOL

I forgot this was my first post. Nice to meet everybody!

Welcome to DISboards, todthebod.
You will get some good recommendations here, but time is not on your side. Artist Point would be my personal favorite for a special occasion. Please stay flexible and consider off-site restaurants too. There are so many good ones to choose from, particularly along Restaurant Row (Sand Lake Rd.) or International Drive.

California Grill at the Comtemporary can be casual or fancy. It is on the top of the Contemporary....we were there for our 35th and let them know it was our anniversary...champagne/cake/and Mickey confetti. Your kids will love it because you can see the MK and fireworks. Dress code biz casual, no tank tops or flip flops.

I would suggest Ohana's, but I'm not sure you can get in at this late date. I would certainly try, the best way is to call everyday around lunch time and in the evening, if your job permits it. If your wife's at home she could certainly stalk the dining reservation line for you. :goodvibes

My next suggestion would be, BOMA. It's a buffet but probably the best buffet on property. ::yes:: This way your family has a lot to choose from, it's not a steak and shrimp place, but the food is outstanding, so are the desserts. I think you'll have better luck getting into BOMA than a lot of other places I want to suggest but don't think you'll get into at this late of a date.

Hope it all works out for you. :thumbsup2

For me, it would have to be Ohana (and if for some reason you can't get a reservation and don't mind missing some park time, you can go as soon as they open and wait...I've found that two people don't have to wait very long - 10 minutes, in my experience - for a table if you go at opening). Steak and shrimp! That's my favorite there (in addition to delicious pot stickers and chicken wings and the amazing bread pudding for dessert). They brought out a cupcake for my fiance and I when we went to celebrate our engagement/anniversary.

Steak, shrimp, chicken wing:

DHS - Brown Derby or Mama Melrose
Resorts - Konas, Big River Brewery, Capts Grill, Boatwrights, Raglan Road
EC - Rose & Crown, Via Napoli

Not all of these restaurants have both steak and shrimp. But they are nice sit down restaurants that arent too fancy.
You might want to take a look at the menus for a few before you make your reservation.

Ohana and WC are family style and tend to be very noisy with lots of children's activities.

Il Mulino at the Swan is very good.:thumbsup2

Welcome to the Dis and congrats on the anniversary!

Most of the TS (Table Service = sit-down) restaurants at WDW have a steak option. Most also have a seafood option although not that many offer shrimp.

My #1 choice for you would be Ohana, in the Polynesian resort. The price includes appetizers/sides served family style and steak, shrimp, pork, and chicken grilled on skewers and brought to the table by various servers, like a Brazilian steakhouse. If the food does not appeal to your DS the restaurant is quite accomodating and can usually offer you basic Disney-kid food as well. There is periodic participatory entertainment for the kids (conga line, cocoanut races, etc). From a lot of the main dining room you can see the Castle. If you get an early ADR it's a quick monorail ride back to the MK for the fireworks; if you get a late ADR you may even be able to see the fireworks from the restaurant. The only problem is that it's hard to get an ADR and almost impossible as a walk-up; you could wait for hours and still not get seated. Still, ADRs get cancelled all the time. Check online as frequently as you can, multiple times a day, between now and your travel date.

Some other options that might appeal to you are Kona Cafe (also in the Poly), Captain's Grill (YC), and Turf Club (SSR). The latter two are probably much easier to get ADRs at because they are "off the beaten track" - but Disney transport will get you there and back to the park, or you can just drive. They are also more moderately priced (in Disney terms). The Signature restaurants some posters have mentioned (Artist Point, Cali Grill, etc) are fancier but come with correspondingly higher price tags.

California Grill would be my suggestion, love to dress up and go to dinner here and the sushi is to die for!

DH and I talked about it and after this Sept trip we will do Jiko for our anniversary, its another signature dining experience we have always wanted to try.

Last yr we did Narcossee for our anniversary.
