Hi friends!

We are doing a last-minute trip this month! :cool1:

We usually drive from Oregon to Yreka, CA and stay overnight there. But, we want to get a little further south on our first day of driving. We'd definitely like to be south of Redding. Maybe Willows or Williams?

Anyone have any experience with a inexpensive motel that is clean and not creepy? We stay at the Hojo in Anaheim and love it but for a one-night stopover we usually like the $55-65 range.

Thanks!! :cool2:

Where in Oregon are you driving from? We're in Eugene and were going to stop in Westley at a Days Inn there--it has a jacuzzi and a continental breakfast and is only 4-5 hours to Disneyland from there. Of course we are insane and just ended up driving straight through.:confused3

We are in the Corvallis area. Without stops (haha!) it is a 15 hour drive time.

This trip we are leaving in the late afternoon and hope to get about 7 hours on the first day.

We are in Salem & went from here to just south of Stockton. We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Lathrop........beautiful motel, comfy rooms, super comfy beds, nice pool & hot tub. HUGE free continental breakfast!! I have pics of the motel in my trip report:

We got a great price & the staff was very helpful when we were looking for yogurt at bedtime for our 3 yr old!!

They are right off I-5 & there are a number of fast food places right across the street.

It makes for a longer drive on day one.....but then a short day you arrive in Anaheim. We'll definitely make this our stopping point from now on!!

We're in Grants Pass and I've been trying to decide how far to drive on the first day. I don't think we'd make it driving straight thru, but I'd love to get to DL fairly early on day 2.

We used to live in Medford & with kids we were able to drive straight thru in 14 hours. That included all the bathroom stops & meals. That way we could get to bed & be up early to hit the parks.

Several times we've stayed at the Best Western Sandman Motel in Sacramento, very near Old Town Sacto and the I-5 Jibboom St exit. There are some 2nd floor rooms with a view of the river, but for an overnight stop you probably don't care about that.

About 2 hours south of Stockton, at the Anderson Pea Soup exit ( Santa Nella ) their is a fairly inexpensive Best Western, and Holiday Inn Express. We've stayed in both, but actually prefer the Best Western... it's adjacent to the Pea Soup restaraunt and gift shop. Nice place to eat and stretch your legs. Nice clean restooms.

Shimmer! I too am from Corvallis, and we just got back! We stayed atthe best western sandman in Sac and it was great! We have also stayed at the Apricot Inn at Firebaugh before too. It also was good. DO NOT stay atthe Best Western Inn of Corning. It is horrid! Anyway- I would love to connect with you since we are from the same place!

We live by Medford and also usually drive straight through. Once we stayed in Sacramento ($39 on priceline downtown by the capital) and once we stayed at the base of the grapevine. This was my favorite I think it was a Ramada (about $89 included breakfast) only about 1 1/2 hours to get into Anaheim depending on the traffic. On the way home we always say we are going to stop, but then just keep driving! We usually book in advance with priceline or hotwire or pick up one of the travel guides at a Mcdonalds or a rest area. They usually have the best deals.

Just back August 2010 and ready to go again!
