Please tell me about December.......We have the opportunity to go for DD's 12th birthday......

Weather?
Crowds?
etc :cloud9:

Thank you :)

Weather can be changeable. On good days perhaps low-mid 70's or so during the day, chilly after dark. Sometimes though, BAM, cold snap comes just like that and it can drop 20 degree's over night and be flat out cold. Layers are your friend.

Crowds will depend when in December you're going. Early in the month and crowds are generally fairly light because it's post Thanksgiving and people aren't arriving yet for Christmas proper. Once you hit the weekend before Christmas...hellooooo crazyville.

The Christmas decorations are wonderful, be sure to visit some of the resorts if you go, especially the deluxe ones, they have fantastic displays.

i would second that we regularly go the first 2 weeks in December or last week Nov & 1st December

Weather can cool down, especially a nights when it gets dark 6ish so layers are needed, but this is way made up by the christmas decorations etc.

you can tell the brits and those from northern USA we are all wearing shorts and t's whilst others have long trousers and jumpers on

a great time of the year to put you in the christmas spirit:cool1:

When we went in December the first week of the month was lovely and warm the second week was freezing so make sure you pack different items.
The crowds were very light and it was enjoyable as you could get round everywhere easily.
Don't miss Osborne family lights at DHS - fantastic!

I love Christmastime at Disney, it's magical and great fun. The decorations are the best in the world and the shows are brilliant. We've done all dates in December and as mentioned in previous posts, the weather can be hot and the next day freezing. Just take a coat with you and you'll be covered.

Also, the sales will be on in the shops as they start after Thanksgiving at the end of November, you can get fab bargains:thumbsup2

Have fun

Tina

early half of December is a great time to go..
while the weather can be cool, even cold at times, it's so nice visiting the parks...
the holiday decorations are lovely and it's really pleasant walking around the parks when you're not dropping dead of heat and humidity...

i love going in november/december...
probably my second favorite time after october...

Crowds first 2 weeks not bad at all, after that it slowly builds up.

Weather, likely to be sunny but on the cool side. If you are lucky you could get temperatures in the low 70s but it will be cooler at times especially in the morning & evening.

We go every year for the first 2 weeks of December. Last year we found it a bit busier due to the free dining promotion that was running. They haven't announced free dining for December this year as of yet, but one to keep an eye on.

Crowds will build in the week leading up to Christmas and then get even busier between then and New Year, but if you're intending to go for Eve's birthday, I imagine you could be home before then. Up until the week before Christmas, the crowds will be nicely manageable.

Whenever we've been during the winter months we've had a mixture of a few days of unseasonably hot weather followed by a few days of cold snaps. We've discovered that the trick is to keep a close eye on the forecast. It's so easy to wake up to glorious sunshine following a few days of temperatures in the 80s, and assume you're in for more of the same, only to find you're freezing your whatsits off! Sun doesn't necessarily equal warmth in December. They are very good at forecasting the cold snaps several days in advance, though. What you won't get are the balmy evenings (although our photographs evidence that we've been out in sleeveless tops/short sleeves on more than one occasion, so it isn't a given that it's always cold, either).

IMO (for what it's worth) it's one of the best times to go. :thumbsup2

These shots outside our villa were taken in early January ahead of dinner at Shulas. Clearly not cold!

All sounds great :goodvibes

We'd fly out on the 2nd and return on the 12th or 13th (can't decide whether to be sensible and have 2 nights sleep before returning to work on the 14th or be irresponsible and arrive home the day before ;))

I'm dithering over how to book at the moment - Virgin hols won't let me book online as Eve turns 12 whilst we're away and the system can't handle it!
The call centre wants £60 more even when they've applied the online discount :scared1:

Alternatively we have thousands of Virgin airmiles so I think we'll use those and rent from Alamo - saving ourselves about £200.........;)

Just got to press that button............:upsidedow
