Going December 14th - 18th. First time in December. I checked the weather channel averages...average high of 73 average low of 53. I don't know about you, but its hard to visualize this when its 95 right now. So for those of you have been in December, what was the weather like and what did you wear?

The plus side is it doesn rain nearly as much in December! And...it will be a lot warmer than Maryland :)

We went in 12/04 and are going back 12/06. While we were there we usually wore shorts and t-shirts during the day (if we were out early in the AM we also had on sweatshirts and just took them off as it got warmer) and Jeans and sweatshirts in the evening. It was about 70 during the day and 55 at night.

Layer, layer, layer, layer is the way to go in December. There were days I would start out in a tshirt and jeans then progress to my sweatshirt on top of the shirt, then my jacket over the shirt and sweatshirt... I remember being at Fantasmic and getting hot chocolate just to warm my hands. I'm bringing gloves this year too!

It's hit or miss. Layering is really the only way to go.

To the OP - this is an off-topic question, but what kind of dog is that in your signature picture? Is it a Boston Terrier? I'm thinking of getting a small dog and I was looking at boston terriers. Also, I've been in December and the weather was beautiful during the day, sunny and warm but I still wore long sleeve shirts and capri pants. I wasn't very prepared and had to buy a pair of long pants and sweatshirt while we were down there, because it did get cool...but I'd rather that then the sweltering heat of summer!

We've gone in December 3 times and the weather has been different everytime. One year it was in the 30s at night & 50s during the day(we saw the locals in winter coats/gloves/hats) we thought it was a heat wave being from NorthCentral Ohio! We were there last December and wore light weight jackets a few days and other days we were in shorts/short sleeves. It just depends. We love the weather in December! :thumbsup2

I can tell you from being there the 2nd week of december last year that it was FREEEZING at night!! We had winter jackets on 3 of the 7 nights we were there- be prepared for ANYTHING!!

We were there last December (1st week.... trip report link with pics in signature).

I think we reached 80 degrees one day, but the other days were in the 70's. First thing in the morning and once the sun went down was cold!! According to the weather channel the lows (while we were there) at night were in the 50's, but for some reason it felt a lot cooler than it!! I had to buy a jacket when we attended MVMCP and I did go searching to buy some gloves!!!

However.... absolutely beautiful time to visit!!!!!!

We lived in MD for many years, and for many years, we always came down the first week in December. Seemed like it always snowed "up there" while we were "down here"... I especially enjoyed that!

You picked a great time to visit as I'm sure you will soon agree. Not the least crowded time at the parks, but a truly magical time during the Holiday season.

You'll probably travel from BWI with a heavy jacket and long pants, pack a sweat or light sweater as well. But yeah, you'll enjoy shorts and light shirts during the day. Don't think you won't need sunscreen! Right before you leave, check out...http://www.local6.com/wxmap/2242393/detail.html

What everybody else said... layer, layer, layer.

We've been there twice in December. The first time, it was warm and sunny and in the 80's....AHHHHHHHHH. We wore shorts (in fact, we had to find a store to buy shorts because I brought all fall clothes and it was too hot for them). Even at night, we were fine in shorts and a tank.

OMG! Last December was COLD!!!! During the day, the temps were in the low 70's, and it may have dropped down to upper 60's one day. OK, where I come from, 70 is WARM, in Orlando, 70 is cold!!! We went to MVMCP one night and we all had on layers of clothes PLUS winter coats, PLUS mittens. The kids were still freezing. I took off my coat so they could lay under it in the double stroller (using my coat like a blanket). And of course, it had to rain about half the time we were there. A December rain storm at Orlando isn't like in the summer. In December, it rains ALL DAY LONG. So, we were soaked.

From that experience, I'm not sure I ever want to travel to WDW in the winter again. I've been to WDW in the summer and I said I'd never go there when it was hot again (but I'm going next month). I guess I'll have to start traveling in the early Spring now...lol.
