We were in Disney mid march (march break) and found the weather warm but not hot. Only swam a couple of times- pool was heated but air was a little chilly. Contemplating a Disney Christmas vacation trip. Can you give me any insights on the weather at that time? Colder or warmer then march break? I only want to go if we are able to swim. THANKS!!

We were there this past December the week right before Christmas:) the weather was a bit all over the place. Two days were in the high 70's, 1 in the high 40's-low 50's and a few in the high 60's-low 70's. we never did the pool because our schedule was packed but mid day with the strong sun a few of the days we probably would have been fine:)

You are asking a very subjective question only you can answer. What is cold or hot to you.

Also, FL is part of the Atlantic, not part of the Caribbean, so there is no set temperature trend or range.

I have been the week after Thanksgiving since 2000 and the weather has been all over the map.

I can tolerate cooler weather because I work outside. Sometimes the pool is good, it is the walk back to the room that can be difficult.

Only you can decide what temperatures you can tolerate. Best is to check the weather 2 days before you leave and pack clothes for those temps and decide if you can tolerate the pool. If you want to plan a December trip this early and expect it to be perfect to you, your expectations are way too high.

We often go the week after Thanksgiving and find the weather usually warm. A few days in the 80's but you may need a coat in the evening. My girls have used the pool every trip but as pp stated the weather can be all over the place. That being said, we have only gone once on spring break and found ourselves wearing coats more on that trip than any other trip.

I've gone the first or second week of December a few times and it is a wide range. One trip it was only a high of 48 on our arrival day. Another trip was 80's the whole week. Or anything in between. I had planned to go Dec 7 to 13 but after a cold trip at the beginning of this month, I changed it to Nov 10 to 16.

We have gone several times in December, the week before Christmas. Weather is variable, as most people have noted. Almost every time I have gone, I have not brought warm enough clothes. This year, I am planning to bring a light weight, packable down jacket, and layers. Then, watch it be in the 70's every day...

We go from 12/25 to 1/1. This past year it was colder than previous years- we has to buy a few jackets and blankets to keep warm at night in the parks. I had to wear ear muffs!

If you want a guarantee you can swim I would not go then. As others have said, it could be cool.

No one can answer that with certainty.I have been in December many times. Some years it was warm enough and we were in shorts and able to swim, some years it was downright frigid and we were in winter gear and some years we have experienced a wide variety of temps all in the same week..If the guarantee of swimming is important, than December is probably not a good choice for you

In general, it will be colder during Christmas vacation than mid March! I always want to swim on vacation and in the past I've forced myself to swim or go in hot tub during December vacations, but the last few years not so much! Pictures from one extended family trip show exactly how December can be. 1st day we had tank tops on. 2nd day we had tshirts with sweatshirts around the waist. 3rd day in an evening picture we had winter coats, mittens, scarfs or hats. So we did swim during that trip, just not every day.

As others have said, Orlando weather in December is very unpredictable. We've been twice in December and the first time was 10 years ago (2003) and we were able to swim on our arrival day, but that was it for the rest of our trip. The temps went down fast and the pool was actually closed the rest of the week due to cold weather. Our last December trip was right before Christmas in 2010 and the weather was a little better as we were able to swim 2-3 days as the temps were in the high 70s-low 80s. But with that said, Florida had a cold snap the week or so before we arrived that year with temps only in the 30-40s. So, if swimming is a must do for you, I would choose a different time of year as you won't know what the weather will be like until you're actually there. Good luck.

I lived in Orlando for 19 years, and everyone is right--December weather is all over the place. I've worn shorts & a tank top on Christmas lots of years and had to bundle up other years.

We went the first weekend in December a couple of years ago, and one morning was so cold my kids and I wore long underwear under our clothes. It wasn't even 40 degrees when we started our morning at DHS.

We did go swimming one afternoon when the temp. made it to the low 70s, but we were one of only a few families in the pool. I just couldn't stand the idea of staying at the BC and not using the pool.

It really just depends, and it can be different year to year. Weather is so unpredictable in Orlando in December.

We spent Christmas week in Disney in 2011 and the high every single day was in the 80s. It was definitely warm enough for swimming. My kids even swam at night without it feeling too cold. We didn't even touch the jeans and pants we packed. We wore shorts every day!

We were in Disney the week leading up to Christmas (went home on Dec 23) in 2002 and we wore hats, gloves, and coats most days. I think the temps hung around the low 50s most days. With the nights even colder.

So you really can't plan ahead for the winter months in Orlando. There is no sure fire way of knowing outside of a 10 day period if there is going to be a cold front or unseasonably warm.

Yes the weather is unpredictable. The day can start out looking like its gonna rain & then be in the 80's by afternoon. The weather is mostly warm in my opinion but you definately cannot trust the weather reports because the weather changes so frequently its unreal. Pack a little of everything & hope for the best.
