December Waitlist...what to do, what to do?

So I called at EXACTLY 7 months prior to my anticipated December 2009 trip to try to book a 2BR until at BLT and even though it was 9am there was no availability so I was waitlisted. I have checked a few times since and even called one day last week but there was still no availability there...or at any other resort for that matter. I already have a room booked at my home resort of SSR.

Now according to Members Services, I am waitlisted for a 2BR Dedicated Standard View as well as a 2BR Lockoff Standard View. Anyone know how many Dedicated there are there? Also does this actually count as TWO different waitlists? I think I read somewhere that you can only be on two waitlists now at any given time...and I'm wondering if that counts? Part of me would love to maybe put us on another waitlist...like maybe at Boardwalk or Beach Club...but I guess I don't want to hurt my chances at actually getting my BLT waitlist in case one of the others comes available.

This is driving me crazy! I would really LOVE to stay at BLT but if I don't get that I am just not sure I want to stay at SSR. We've stayed in a Grand Villa at SSR before, and it was nice, but I guess I still prefer the EPCOT area resorts like Beach Club and Boardwalk.

With the new rates released this week and last week for general public, AP holder and Disney Visa holders (and I qualify for all of those) I just wonder if I shouldn't just keep my DVC points and book that way instead.

Decisions, decisions!

Under the new wonderful rules, you have your 2 wait lists. If you really want a different resort, I would bank your points and go for one of the discounts. That way you are guaranteed what you want.

As I say every chance that I get, buy your DVC points where you love to stay. The 11 month booking advantage continues to be even more important.

Your problem is that you are trying to get a standard view. There are very few standard view villas. You'd have a much better chance of getting a lake view. Those do cost more points, though.

FWIW, I think getting either a Magic Kingdom view or a standard view at BLT is going to require the home resort booking advantage pretty much all of the time.

If you have the points, you should try changing at least one of your waitlists to a lake view room - there are many more of these (69%) and that increases your odds of getting a room. In fact, if you wouldn't mind a split stay, you could change 1 WL to LV for the whole stay and 1 WL for just part of the stay, the logic being that the fewer days you're looking for, the easier it is to get a match.

And if it makes you feel any better, I called the VERY DAY BLT reservations opened for owners and still couldn't get MK view for my December trip. Then I ended up canceling so that my sister and I can go in November on our birthday, and I'm WL for half of that stay. So for std and MK view, don't beat yourself up - at 7 months out, I'm sorry to say you didn't have much of a chance for December.

Good luck with your WL though!

I agree, I waitlisted for a dedicated 2 bedroom Standard view or Lake view for a 5 night period that included the Marathon weekend. I got the Lake view and I'm thrilled. I was able to eliminate a studio, and will have 5 adults and 3 children in the 2 bedroom, so it actually saved me some points.

Maybe I'm lucky because it is a Sat night and lots of points but I was able to book a one bedroom MK view for Dec 12 at about the 6 month point. Only for one night though, it probably would have been harder had I needed more nights.

...and now I am seriously considering a few things. I may keep my SSR 2BR for the first 2 nights, then try to get BLT for five nights instead of seven and now here is my dilemma of which I'm seeking more advice:

if I keep my waitlist for the 2BR Standard view at BLT, do you think my chances are better at keeping the 2BR Lockoff or the 2BR combined? I am wondering how many lockoffs there are in Standard view as opposed to the studio + 1BR models.

I may just hold onto what I have for a few more weeks, and as my dates get closer (say within a month or so) I might change my waitlist over to the BLT Lakeview instead for part of my stay. While we hate to do the split-stay thing, I would just LOVE to try BLT this time around!
