December Visit?

We are spending Christmas this year in Palm Springs with my in-laws(we are Canadian) and the idea of being soo close to Disneyland and not going breaks my heart, BUT I have always gone 'off season' when only the most popular rides had long que's and most 10-15 min if not walk on lines. Not to mention the price of our regular hotel is double yikes! It would be a couple of days during the week before Christmas for my husband me and our 2 kids 5&7. Would you go and reconcile yourself to spending more and doing less?

have you never been at christmas....then do it....leave the kids with grandparents and do the crush with the Yuletide folks.

first Christmas in Palm springs? There is wide variety of culture differences in celebrating Christmas in Palm springs that would make for a fun and truly unique christmas.

My vote is no....because your focus is on attractions.....not going to happen during Christmas week when instead your focus should be on the Christmas spirit of the humanity and all the decor....and perhaps the only place in California that has the commercial christmas spirit.

I think it depends a lot on how much of an impact crowds and cost will have on your enjoyment of the parks. It will be crowded and I doubt very many things will be anything close to walk one. As long as you're okay with that, then I would go. If you think you'll be miserable, then I would probably skip it.

If you do go, perhaps it would a trip to not necessarily focus on attractions, but on seeing the holiday offerings that you won't get when you normally go. The parks should be fully decorated for the holidays, along with all of the holiday entertainment offerings (fireworks, parade, WoC, etc.) and attraction overlays (HMH, Jingle Cruise, IaSWH). If you've never seen DLR during the holidays, then I think it a fun thing to experience at least once.

We are spending Christmas and ringing in the New Years this year, this is our first time ever spending any major holiday in a Disney park and we are so excited to do so. We all are going to go there with the mind set that we won't be able to ride all of the major rides, and if we do, we will have to wait for them (especially for the Holiday HM, Holiday IASW, and the Jingle Cruise) but we really want to go there to be immersed in Disney with all of the decorations and festivities that Disney has to offer during the Holidays. So with that being said, if you go with the mind set as my family is going to go with, then I say absolutely go to DLR during Christmas, what better way to spend the Holidays then at the Happiest Place on Earth .

I know we wont be able to accomplish as much as usual my only concern is just how crowded it will actually be. I know they can reach capacity in the week between Christmas and New Years is that as common the week before? We have never done any Holidays at Disneyland and don't expect to ever go out of our way to make that trip that it probably is worth fighting the crowds.

We are spending Christmas in Yuma this year! Glad I am not there right now....50 celcius....ummm...no. We are flying in from AB. We are in the parks on the 21st & 22nd, and again for New Year's for 3 days. So here is my take on Christmas at DL. We have been a few times for extended stays. 8-10 days. We have seen and done everything with the exception of the new additions. We are going at Christmas to see all the holiday decorations and eat all the yummy food. I think this year, Christmas at DL will be different with the tiered pricing. All passholders with the exception of the Signature plus are blocked. Over the last couple months people have been surprised how light the crowds have been on major holidays. That being said, there will be a lot more once in a lifetime or once a year visitors in the parks. This is where knowledge of the parks and fastpass will aid us in combating the crowds. Will it be busy? Yes...yes it will. Would I miss it....no way. Join us in the Christmas thread if you decide to go.
