We are planning on going to WDW dec. 18-26. I have never been in the winter months. (now we are coming from Michigan so 60+ is warm for us)

What is the weather like? Is it pants / coats every day and night or are there some shorts days.

Help - jsut don't know what to plan for?

Thanks

We were there last December and I brought everything and used it! When we got there it was in the fifties and by the end of the week in the eighties. We had hats, shorts, swimwear and utilized them all during our twelve day stay:) have fun packing... The weather is unpredictable!

I hate packing for all weather. With a family of 5 and airline baggage costs it can get expensive.

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately, the weather in December can be very cold or very hot. You will have to wait until it gets closer to your trip to see what the weather patterns are. We've been in December before when it was cold and rainy and then this past December it was 85 degrees the whole time and never even needed a light jacket or sweater.

We've used everything from shorts & tees to fleece jackets and lightweight gloves in December - and that was during the day. I would recommend bringing one comfy sweater and a sweatshirt and layering them as needed. If you have a lightweight fleece jacket, that would be great to bring as well.

I had the same question. Sounds like the weather at Christmas is similar to what it is at Thanksgiving. Thanks for the info.

One tip to save room in the suitcase, wear more! Instead of packing a jacket, put it on. Wear jeans and pack shorts, etc., so you'll have more space in your bag.

We were @ WDW 11/30-12/19 and saw everything from the evening of MVMCP that never got above 40, to 80.

(Luckily we drove down from NH and had cold weather clothes with us - we needed hats and gloves that one night!)

Instead of worrying about packing parkas, I'd say pack light layers you can add as needed - a good windbreaker goes a long way on a cool night when there's a breeze. Couldn't hurt to throw some slim knit gloves/hats in for those chilly nights.

Or you can just buy those big fuzzy hats and giant Mickey "mittens" when you get there! :santa:

We spent 10 nights in Dec. of 07. We arrived to 80 degree weather, no rain and hot temps. until they morning of our flight home. My sweet mil had to make a trip to Walmart for shorts, as she only packed 2 pairs. We have visited every Dec. for years, and I had adviced her to pack pants and sweatshirts as it gets cold. Needless to say, the only time we wore a jacket was while eating dinner as the restaurants seem so cold. My advice would be mail a package down with a couple outfits for cool weather, and avoid paying the airline fees. Have a great trip, Dec. is a great time to visit.

I went last year the week of November 18 and boy was it COLD!

Now, this is comming from someone who lives in south florida and is used to 80 degrees year round so when it turned out to be 30-40 degrees in Orlando, we freezed!!!

I even brought my gloves with me, soooo cold!

I also recommend layering. We brought fleeces and sweatshirts and ended up with about three layers on at night--it was cold. We had gloves and hats as well. If you have stroller-sized kids you might want to bring a fleece blanket for them to snuggle under. That was one thing I wished I had had for my DD who was 3 at the time. I also wished I had warmer shoes because I brought my crocs. Even with socks on, I got a cold little breeze through the ventilation holes!
