Why is it so hard to book in December:confused3 ? I thought since it was the slowest time of the year I would have no problem booking 2 studios in December. My home resort is BWV but I am trying to stay at all resorts and wanted to be cheap with the points because I bought annual passes and I am planning 2 trips with-in 1 year (1 long and 1 Short). Airfare has been so crazy that I had to book the airfare before I could book my rooms. I have Tickets to fly down 12/10/08 and return 12/15/08. Hopefully I will find 2 studios available somewhere.

December has become the highest DVC demand time of the year. Time around Christmas has always been high. Rest of December has (a) low point cost time of year, and (b) all the Christmas decorations and events such as MVMCP.

I think that it is so hard because the points cost is very low. I would think that SSR and/or OKW may have studios available. Also, there may be more availability as the 7 month mark hits and some of us try to move to other resorts.

And if you find anything available, it might only be a night here or there and not in the same size villa or same resort. If you plan to go in December, you always need to make a reservation at your home resort at 11 months out. Then at 7 months if you want to try for something else, you call day by day to see what you can get.

I've gone many times the first or second week of December, it's an awesome time to go with the Christmas activities. Low points is an added bonus.

If you already have your airfare, you need to get on a waiting list for DVC studios anywhere. In the meantime, I'd make a backup cash reservation because there is a good chance that your waitlist won't come through at that time of year.

In addition to low points and Christmas decorations, the DVC annual meetings are in December, as is Mousefest and I believe another Disneyphile convention. Few people go in early December for the first time, but its a hugely popular time of year for repeat visitors who try and avoid the crowds, but enjoy the best Disney has to offer - and the ultimate repeat visitors are DVC members.
