My wife and I are interested in coming down for the first time as DVC owners this December and would like to take advantage of Adventure Season (Dec 1-14). When does Disney normally start Christmas themes, activities, and decorations? We'd like to be able to experience a taste of the Christmas season. Is the first week too early or does the Christmas experience take effect right after Thanksgiving? Thanks!

We were in WDW first week of Dec last year, and everything Christmas was going on. The resorts are all lit up in lights and trees are up. This is a great time to go. Year before last we were there the week before Thanksgiving and they were starting to set things up for Christmas. The weather is great, so this is a wonderful time to go. I hope you enjoy your first DVC stay. Where are you staying?

All the Christmas activities start by Thanksgiving. This is a very popular time of year for DVC members to come down and start the holidays so you may want to check availablity ASAP.

WDW at Christmas (from Thanksgiving thru New Years) is extra great. Instead of E nights there are the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party where the MK is open 'till about midnight, a great light show at MGM Studios, a Candlelight Processional at Epcot and decorations at each and every resort. Boardwalk, GF, Wilderness were my favorites. There are all kinds of holiday events (the DIS ususally has a holiday info section). So enjoy.

An Excellent time of the year to visit WDW! Our favorite time to go! The holiday decorations are fantastic and there is special entertainment available everywhere. Have a great trip! We're heading back 11/27 - 12/9..can't wait!

:bounce: We will be there at same time. Staying at Boardwalk..

Yeah the decorate and have everything ready the day after Thanksgiving. everyone says the Osborne Family Lights in MGM are a must see. That's on our list as well as every resort that we can fit in. All the resorts are beautifully decorated. There is also (if they still do it) a christmas dinner show at the contemporary, but I've heard they have stopped having it. We are going to start checking on special Xmas dinner shows and making ressies for those next month.

I have about 500 pictures from early December, 1998 on my web site (crissup.org). The link is in my signature. Most of the xmas decorations will go up immediately after Thanksgiving. Then, they'll slowly fill out the rest over the next couple weeks. I highly recommend this time of year.

We were there the first 2 weeks of Dec. this past year. It was kind of crowded the first week, but the second was wonderful. They only thing I had trouble with was the sun. It is very low in the sky at this time of year, and sun glasses weren't enough for relief. I had to add a sun visor as well, and even then the low angle of the sun bothered me. You will love the Osborne lights at MGM and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot.

Actually, we were at MGM on Thanksgiving DAY, and the Osborne light show was already up. Fake snow falling and everything. Truly a must see.
