December question?

:( I'm planning our third trip and had it all figured out...until the school calendar came out. We were going to go the first week in December to celebrate my birthday (the big 40th) and for the past few years the school calendar has always ended the marking period the Wed before Thanksgiving. Of course this year they decided to change it to Dec 3. So, my question is how are the 2nd and third weeks of December? Is Dec 13-17 too close to Christmas to avoid major crowds?

We began our trip Dec 17 and departed on the 24 this past December. I did not think the crowds were bad until the 22nd and they were still wonderful compared to what we just encountered the week before Easter. As I said in another post, the only surprise was the COLD weather - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. But the magic of the decorations, music, etc. more than made it worthwhile. I think you will be fine.

We have went to WDW in early December since 1992.Several trip's we have been 10th through the 19th and crowds were not bad at all.Bring clothes that you can layer, the weather can be very warm to very cool.Get you some MVMCP Tix and when you can maybe set up a Candlelight Processional Dinner Package.Don't miss the Osborne Lights which are back this year. You are visiting WDW at the most special time of the year. You will have a magical time.::yes:: :wave2:

We were there from 12/14 through 12/21 last year. Until Friday the 19th, it was low crowds and totally awesome. On Friday, the crowds hit and Saturday was just too busy for our taste. Have fun! Maggie

I'm wondering the same thing. However, our trip was scheduled for the 1st week in December, and now we're thinking about the week after Christmas. I know the crowds would be horrid, but timewise, it would be much better for all of us!

Any info would be great!

I can't imagine going any other time. The low crowds and weather are wonderful. I guess if you go often enough that you don't feel compelled to get a lot into a day, then the higher crowds won't seem as much a problem as your calendar.

I was responding there to Tiffany rather than Skatermom23! Skatermom23: We went Dec 9-13 (2003) and walked on most every ride.

was great as far as crowds to but VERY cold. We were glad we brought our winter jackets but only had 1 or 2 warm outfits for myself & kids. Funny thing is that we are wearing virtually the same outfits in every picture because we didn't unpack our summer clothes. Our limo driver said his favorite week to go was the following week. He said there were even lower crowds the week before Christmas. We want to go this yr in December too. Although I would like it to be nice weather wise, nothing is greater than WDW at Christmas!!!

Hi,
My family went to WDW during the week of christmas of 2003....I didn't really notice the crowds until christmas day after that it was a mad house.....I think you will be fine.....
