We've always been October visitors to Disney. We're thinking of trying December 2008. I'm interested in hearing if it's worth it to visit this time of year. Things are crazy at home with getting ready for the holidays but I really want to see Disney Christmas decorations.

Anyone have any input? We wouldn't go Christmas week. Maybe the first or second week of December. DS 11 & DS 5

I'm floored that noone has responded on this topic yet (probably because you are not registered). DEFINATELY go during December if it is possible for your family!:cool1: It is soooo awesome and definately a must do especially if you are return visitors. There is so much to see at that time that I would not know where to begin, except to say make it happen if it is possible for your family and you WILL NOT be dissapointed. It adds an extra magic to an already magical place. Make sure to send us pictures!:thumbsup2

i go to disney every dec i usually go the second week or the tuesday after thanksgiving into dec it is a greatt time to go

It is absolutely wonderful. Everyone must go at this time of year at least once.

We LOVE Disney at Christmas time! We usually go the first week of Dec. - crowds are not too bad, weather is pretty good and WDW is all decked out in it's holiday finest!:thumbsup2

We have never been but I have read that it is a low attendance time. The parks are decorated in holiday gala, the resorts have trees and gingerbread houses. The weather is suppose to be low humidity with little rain.

Perfect weather, low crowds, decorations! Sound like a perfect time.

I can't reiterate enough~ GO GO GO! The absolute BEST time to go! The decorations are incredible, the crowd level minimal! Grab this chance and run! Happy Holidays!!!:santa:

december is an awesome time to go- heading down for my second december trip in 33 days!!

My family and I absolutely love Disney in December. We might be a bit partial though since our wedding anniversary is the 2nd of Dec and we spent our honeymoon in Disney. Since then we have made several trips (with and without kids) during the first week of December. It's absolutely beautiful with the Christmas decorations and all of the lights. The weather isn't bad. We have had trips where it's been 80s all week and we've had trips where it's barely hit 70s. But, crowds are light and the World is aglow for the Holidays. I wouldn't recommend the week of Christmas. It is very crowded.

A few things we have learned over the years to take note ...... the taping of the Merry Christmas parade that is air on ABC on Christmas day is usually done the first Saturday/Sunday in December. Unless you want to see how the parade is taped, you might want to avoid the MK during those days. Main Street is roped off and you are pushed through cattleshoots in front of the shops.

With the taping going on, the MK huge Christmas tree is located over by the Castle rather than by the flagpole at beginning of Main Street. There are no garlands and wreaths either strung across the shops down Main Street. The tree usually is not moved until the Friday after the taping weekend and the garland goes up. I just love to walk down Main Street with the garlands. It's gorgeous!

The first week of December there is also a Football/Cheerleader event going on in the Wide World of Sports. The All Star resorts and Pop Century are usually filled with them (we learned that on our honeymoon).

As for crazy life at home. I hear ya. We have two kids (7 & 9). With a trip to Disney in the beginning of December (we have one this year - 34 days to go) I always start Christmas shopping now. I get as much done as I can ... or at least have a list of who I want to get what and start watching sales. I get my husband organized and we put up the Christmas decorations around the house the weekend after Thanksgiving. It's nice to come home from Disney to a decorated house. I do Christmas day dinner at the house as well, so I try and get that menu organized so that when I come back from vacation I already know what I have to get.

It takes some planning, but Disney so well worth it at Christmas time.

We're booked for the week of Dec. 2008. I know we're crazy, but we really want to experience Disney during the holidays and this is the only time I can take off in December. I hear it's pretty crowed at this time, but we're excited.

Are you actually going the week of Christmas? It is crowded but with it being your first Christmas experience, it will be well worth it. There is nothing like Disney at Christmas time. Everyone should do it at least once. My family and I always make some time to just go "hotel hopping" to see all of the decorations, gingerbread buildings, etc.... Those are attractions in themselves. It's amazing what Disney can do with sugar, chocolate, and some gingerbread. Oh, you will love it!!

I agree 1000%! It's an annual tradition for us! LOVE it!

In fact, we put up our Christmas tree today because the next few weeks are packed & didn't want to tackle it when we return home mid-December. DH  Christmas!

Dh and I always go the second week in December. I have everything all planned for our trip and Christmas cards addressed before Thanksgiving. The week end after Thanksgiving I do all our decorating. Thank when we get back from Disney we take one week end and finish any shopping that needs to get done.

I've never been in Dec. and I'll be in Orlando all month---have friends there. We are going to MVMCP and the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT for sure. They also told me that many of the hotels have wonderful decorations. We have tickets for something called ICE at one of them that has huge ice carvings. The Citrus Parade is the 29th.
Just keep reading and you'll see a lot of info. Look under the Theme park forum too.

Love going early to mid December!
