Family of five - We are considering postponing our plans to cruise in June to the second week in December. As a mother of three college students it would not be a problem for them to travel during that time because school will be out. In December 2001 we spent a wonderful vacation at WDW, as a matter of fact just finished looking at the videos. Which started us thinking about all of the reasons we enjoyed December at WDW in the first place ( less crowds, less heat, christmas decor ). Was wondering if this was a good reason to do the same with our cruise ( plus we would spend a few days in Orlando afterwards ). Those of you who have cruised in December give me the highs and lows .

Just checked with Disney and the cost would be less also.

As someone that has either been to DW or on the DCL the last few Decembers..... It's my ultimate time to be with Mickey!
The cruise is decorated beautifully just like the parks, even more so in my opinion.
There is a tree lighting ceremony with "snow" that falls from the ceiling. Carolers singing in the atrium, and the characters dressed in their "Christmas best".
It really is my favorite time to travel and we've always had great weather, too! Not sweltering hot like in the summer, just perfect!

We are going on a 4 day right before Christmas in 2004 (even though we just booked a 7 day in September, we have all really wanted to see the ship decorated for Christmas, so we are doing 2 cruises next year).

I have seen pictures that people of posted and the ship does look lovely. I think it would be a great time to go! We can't wait! We were going to go this year, but next year's dates worked better for us.

I would think it would be nice having lower temperatures too. We always cruise in September, and it is quite hot then. We pick that time because our twins have their birthday then, but if we didn't do it as a birthday thing I would prefer to go when the weather was cooler.

GOOD: There is NOTHING in the world like WDW and DCL decorated for Christmas! It's truly *magical*

SEMI BAD: The weather in WDW is a bit rainier; The weather in the Bahamas averages around mid-70s, but the Eastern Caribbean is a bit more south, so it averages in the 80s. Visit http://www.wunderground.com/ for temperature data/history from almost anywhere in the world.

We go each year at this time, the weather back home is always cold and nasty which makes a cruise a special treat, the ship is just beautiful and you get away from some of the Christmas hubbub...and of course celebrating my birthday at sea is the best!
