We cruised in January a few years ago and now we're thinking of doing a 7 night in Dec. '06. Trying the CC destination twice. I remember when we cruised in January, it was kind of nippy, water chilly etc. How is it in December, the cruise is December 9. Is the cruise ship decorated for Christmas? THX!

We've cruised in both December and January a couple of times each and December wasn't too much warmer than January for us. The water is chilly. BUT, I must say that at the Eastern Ports it was very warm in December. The Bahamas weren't warm enough either month for us to enjoy the water.

The Christmas decorations go up either during or right after the Thanksgiving cruise.

We have cruised 4 times in early Dec. We have been quite comfortable snorkeling and swimming at CC each time. Last year we went late in Dec and it was a bit chilly. We also did one Jan cruise and one Feb cruise and were able to swim on both of those. By the way, we are on the Dec 9 double scoop also. There is a cruise meet thread. Come over and join us!

We were at Castaway Cay on January 2. The water was plenty warm, the air temperature was a bit cool, and it rained. But we had a great time just the same. A lot of folks headed back to the ship early, we were snorkeling, so rain didn't make us any wetter!!!

Hi - we are on that 12/9/06 cruise as well!! How old will your DD be? I love your signature pic!! My girls will be 4 and 19 months...

I haven't cruised in Dec...we did go to Jamaica in December and the water wasn't too bad...we are going this Dec so upon return I can better answer!!

My DH thinks I'm nuts planning so far ahead, wait until I tell him 2 people answered my questions on the Dis Board and they are already booked. :) DD will be 3 September 28th of '06. We were going to try and do the 11 night cruise in September, but DD has never cruised, what if she gets sea sick. Thanks all!

I think children handle the motion a little different. DD was 18 months when we went on our cruise and she was fine and were we on deck two and it was a little rough at times...I took Bonine!

If she goes to the clubs she will probably be in with my DD Samantha....my other princess Haley will be in Flounders every now and then!

Hi:

I cruised with just my daughter for a special mommy/daughter cruise for Christmas the week of December 13, 2003, on the Magic, Eastern Itin.

Castaway Cay was COLD. I don't really remember anyone in the water because it was so chilly. It was also windy too. I went down to the adults only section and I was going to sit in one of those hammocks and just read and relax for awhile, but I got too cold from the wind, and didn't stay long. I also had a cabana massage, but I remember that they shut the doors instead of having them open for the ambience because of the wind, and they gave me extra blankets to cover up with because I was cold. I think they had a space heater in there as well.

The decorations were great. Many trees throughout the ship, lots of decorations. A huge tree on Castaway Cay with a lighting ceremony before we left, and a tree lighting ceremony on the first deck. It was so wonderful, I remember that it was the first time I felt any Christmas spirit since my mom died in 1997, but I felt it there because it was just so contagious.

Hopes this helps,

Lynne

Last year we sailed 11/13 and the holiday decorations were already up.

Two years ago we cruised 12/13 and the weather was great the whole time, until the Castaway Cay day. My boys were chilly at the beach in the morning, and it was very breezy. We still salvaged the day, but it wasn't as enjoyable as it usually is.

Tell your husband that you aren't crazy!!!! I booked that cruise about a year ago on the day the dates for 2006 opened up!!!! We are going with friends and my friend's husband thought we were crazy booking that early!!! The early bird gets the worm and we got three secret porthole rooms!!!!

Hello,

We booked the double CC for Dec in Dec 2004 on a 4 day wonder cruise. Woo hoo only 15 months to go!!! :Pinkbounc

Our last cruise was also the 2nd week in december...The xmas decorations were great and the weather every day was fabulous...except the last sea day which was windy and chilly. If you are from PA, then you probably are used to swimming in unheated pools....CC water was probably warmer than that.
