December Crowds

We are planning our next trip to WDW tentatively for Dec 14-21. Just wondering on the crowd levels during this time. I know that Christmas is horrific, but hoping that a week or so before would not be too bad. Our daughters are 7 and 5. Our last trip was Sept 22-Oct 1, 2011. Just hoping for advice, personal accounts of crowd levels during this time. Dates are somewhat flexible. If would benefit me to go earlier in December, then that option is open. Thanks!!

Crowds have been busier than in years past....but still very managable! From what I have heard (we normally go early dec) around the 18-19 the Christmas crowds start to pick up.

if you want plenty of elbow room & less line waiting....cause parks aren't that crowded

The lowest crowd leves for December are usually December 10 - 18. On the 18th the crowds will grow noticably bigger and will become huge by the 22nd and totally insane by the 24th.

Ok, so if you had to choose between going Dec 7-14 or Dec 14-21, which one would you pick for least crowded

7 - 14, crowds grow the closer you get to Christmas.

We've gone the last 2 years in December. Last year we from the 10-18. On the 17th (Saturday) the crowds pretty much doubled. I would recommend going the 7-14. We are making a point to go the first week of December this year!

I would definately choose Dec 7-14. The crowd levels at that time would not be bad at all. The crowd level would not be too bad for the first part if you went Dec 14-21. The closer to Christmas the worse it is going to be.

What is the weather like 1st week of December? Is it warm enough to swim? i know every year is different just curious

There isn't really anyway to speculate this early. December in WDW can be very warm, or very cold or anything in between. We have went swimming in early December and, literally, been in thermals, heavy coats and hat and gloves the next year. Once your dates get closer, just start stalking accuweather.com and weather.com
