Hello everyone! My Df and I are planning our wedding on December 14, 2010, a Tuesday and a reception at home on December 18, the following Saturday. The reason we are doing it so close is that the next weekend is Christmas and the following is New Years. I've always wanted a Christmas wedding and was looking forward to decorating the at home reception with Christmas decor. I'm a little concerned that our MK shoot will be delayed because of weather and we'll have to come home without our photos. I was wondering when other December brides had their at home receptions? Thank you! :)
P.S I'm new to this board, but I'm highly addicted already :rotfl:

I am also a Dec 2010 bride and plan on having an at home reception. Originally I really wanted it in Dec when we got home as well but we have decided to wait 6 months and have it in June 2011 (now that's really far away!) We decided this for several reasons... 1) I want our pics to be there for our guests to see and usually I think they take about 1 month to come back 2)It would be a lot to squeeze in around the holidays 3) work reasons... we already plan to take 2 weeks off for the wedding and honeymoon and would need even more time to throw an at home reception 4)It will give our bank accounts a few months to recover 5)We live in Michigan and the weather can be bad- we have family and friends all across the state...even though it's an "at home" reception we'll still have a lot of people travelling to come. There's still moments when I'm not totally thrilled about it but I'm excited about our new plan. We are going to send out photo wedding announcements (http://www.classyannouncements.com/photo-wedding-announcements.aspx) right after the wedding and will include the save-the-date for the at home reception. Then in June (around our 6 month anniversary) we are going to have a very casual pigroast with all our family and friends. Our pics and videos should all be back and hopefully we'll just be able to relax and have a good time! Whatever you decide... good luck! We just decided it would be too much for us to take on at once!

Thank you so much! I think we may end up pushing ours back too. I really like the photo announcement! It's nice that you'll have your photos for the reception and be able to use it for your save the dates!

We're planning on doing the same thing, our wedding is this December and then we'll have a big party back here in Indy (well northern-Indiana) in the late spring, early summer. Because of our budget we're doing an Escape so it'll only be immediate family, so for the "at home" reception we can invite everyone else. We wanted to make sure kids were out of school (plus a few folks are teachers or work in the school system), the weather would be warmer, we'll have all of our pictures and video, plus we can save up money.

I think we're going to end up doing it later on too! Thanks for the feedback! :)
