December 5, 2016 Disney Dream Cruise

Hi this is my first cruise too, but I've been researching like crazy and reading lots of Trip Reports :-) He are things I've learned, those who really know, please correct me.

I've read TRs that give the nursery high praise, but I admit I'm nervous about it so we are waiting to take the kids on a cruise until YDS is 3 next summer. I'm not sure about the cost or how to book the nursery, but from what I've read it does sound as hard as I've made it in my head.

One tip I've read is that they run specials during the cruise and you can get discounts if you wait to book on board. Also there is a drawing give away the first day I believe. I've read great reviews about the Rain Forrest room, but with such a short cruise I'm unsure if I will do it. If you really want a massage I guess it's best to book ahead to get the time you want.

The only restriction I know of it has to be magnets and no over the doors hangers. If you cause any damage you get billed. I ask Barb on the main cruise board here for some custom designs and ordered magnetic paper, I haven't printed them yet, but I'm excited. Lots of magnets on Etsy of course.

I'll let the experts tell you any rules, actually if this group has rules I'd like to know specifics. From what I understand once you get on a list you can make/buy a small something for each person on the list or do a cabin gift. The list has favorite characters/colors and allergies listed. Its just a fun exchange to add to the cruise. I have seen some amazing gifts on social media, some simple things that are very clever, and some things that are just cute and Disney. I think it's just gifts once through the trip but I have read on longer cruises people do multiple drops.

Do we have any specific rules for this FE?
Thank you so much. All of this has been really helpful! I saw a ton of really cute FE stuff on etsy. I'd love to dive in and think my family will too

I am interested in joining an FE group, but I'm concerned about time. Is it really time consuming? As much as I want to participate, I'm worried about timing, only because of the short length of the cruise. I would LOVE to get to know everyone and make some new friends, don't get me wrong..

I've never done it so I'm interested too :)

I'm ready to join. I'm really interested I just don't know all the rules
Fabulous! We just added you to the private conversation - go to conversations "Dream Cruise 12/5/16 - Fish Extender Group" Send us all your information there, including your email address - we can't post the spreadsheet on here. We may need to start a 2nd group. We haven't made any specific rules...it's basically what ever you want to do. One small gift per person per cabin at a minimum. We have also started an ornament exchange for that we will be doing just one ornament per cabin. So glad you're going to be part of this!!!:tinker:

It shouldn't be too time consuming...this is a first for us too. We want to keep the groups to 10 - 12 cabins - so, we may need to start another group, there may be more wanting to join as we get nearer, but there should be plenty of room for everyone. I think the kids will have a Blast with it - just running around the ship looking for the cabins and being little Santa's helpers

So, as far as FEs go... The group agrees upon some guidelines and then my family would drop off one gift per person per family once, and then that's it? Just making sure I understand everything!! :P

Yes, you can do as much as you want, but the minimum would be just as you stated. We are getting favorite characters, favorite colors, but you can give what you want, it doesn't have to be specific.

This is our first Disney Cruise and we have kids that will be 10, 6, and 1. Should we try to get a cabana on Castaway Cay? I know it would probably be near impossible to get one since we are first time cruisers. TIA

I think that with a 1 yr old, it would definitely help. That way, if nap time comes around, baby has a comfortable place to nap without having to worry about the sun or going back to the ship. I had a friend who cruise with a 3 yr old and an 18 month old, and she told me it's the way to go on CC.

Anyone have any opinions/recommendations as far as kid's footwear? Are we better off staying with "strap-on" sandals? My girls prefer flip flops, but if they aren't too safe, I'll leave them at home, and stick with the athletic/hiking type of sandal. Any previous experience?

Hello everyone! We are so excited to be sailing on the Dream December 5,2016. This is our 3rd Disney Cruise and we have never done the fish extender. We would love to be added to the group to exchange gifts if there is room. Can't wait to meet everyone.

We would love to be added to the FE group please.
Welcome! :welcome: You will need to get to 10 posts so that we can add you to the private conversation.

Hey there! This is my third Disney cruise, my second time doing the Fish Extenders! I would love to join the group, have you made a facebook page for it? When we did our last FE exchanges it was so much fun being able to add friends easily from the cruise! Can't wait!

Welcome!
I'm unclear on the social media rules with this site, but I am not aware of any social media groups that are directly related to this group. We are just starting a second fish extenders list for this group if you would like to sign up. :boat:

Also, in order to be put on the FE list, you need to get your post count up to 10! :sunny:
