Hello All,

This is our Pre-Trip Report for our upcoming Disney trip, in December, 2016.

The "We" are myself, BDL (aka Sean) and BDLsgal (aka Kelly), my beautiful wife. After a long courting period, we finally tied the knot Oct. 17th, 2015. And, "Yes", it was a Disney themed reception. Disney has been a big part of our lives, since we met. Early on we found out that our families each took 2 trips to Disney when we were kids at about the same time. As soon as we found that out, I started combing through my family's old Kodak pics to see if I could find them. And since then, we have been 3 times, together as grown ups, and have had great times each trip.

This time, we are going as husband and wife. The reason why I am calling this PTR "Honeymoon pt: II", is because, for a wedding gift, my best man and his wife gave us a trip to Cancun as a wedding gift. And we both had a great, margarita-soaked time.

I will post some facts and pics from our Cancun trip and our previous 3 trips to Disney (2010, 2012, 2014) throughout the PTR. I'll also try to impart some "live & learn" as well as some "Ugh... Why'd I do THAT?" moments that have come from the trips.

I hope you like what you read, and thank you for following along.

Sean

I'm originally from Watertown, MA and now live with my wife in Newton, MA. I am an IT professional. I've worked for the same company for over 8yrs, though not always in the same role. I have been re-assigned so many times, that there is probably nothing on this site that I can't fix. It's to the point that if a mop handle breaks, people start looking for me cuz they know that I can fix the situation. But I digress... In the past, I have also been a laborer and a bouncer.

In case you can't tell, I am BIG TIME Boston sports fan. Pats, Bruins, Sox & and I am just starting to get back into the Celtics (a little). I am a member of the local Elks lodge, which gives me a chance to let my inner lunatic fan a chance to shine. I am also a walking IMDB. When people need a movie question answered, they can usually count on me. Except for Rom-Coms. The only thing I know about them is that 'Hugh Grant' is usually the answer. I am also a pretty big fan-boy. Mostly comics and Sci-Fi (Star Wars > Star Trek). No anime.

I have been to Disney World 8 times. 2 as a kid, 3 with friends and 3 with BDLsgal. And so far, have never been bored and have always found something new and fun. Still really missing Pleasure Island (A LOT), but am willing to see what Disney Springs has to offer.

Favorite Resort: Port Orleans-Riverside
Favorite Ride: Star Tours
Favorite Restaurant: Le Cellier

I will hold off on this for now and give my lady love the chance to draft her own desciption.

Our 1st trip 2010:

In 2009, I got the idea for a combo birthday, Valentine's Day and anniversary gift, I booked us a trip in Dec of 2010. From the moment we told our friends and families about our upcoming vacation, out came the "He's going to propose down there" rumors. Rumors... I should say yelling to the rooftops. And no matter how many times we both shot them down, but they still persisted. To the point where BDLsgal said to me "You BETTER NOT propose to me down there." And I assured her I wouldn't. But, I think you know where I'm going here...

But let's get to the trip itself.

Our 1st "Oooooooooh" moment was when we arrived at MCO (Orlando International Airport), in December and seeing the huge Christmas tree. It was huge and let us know we were on vacation. We caught a town car and went to the off-site hotel that I had booked for us that night (we got in late and didn't see the money of spending for an on-site). We conked out immediately. 1st thing in the morning, we took a cab to our new home for the next 6 days, Port Orleans-Riverside.

I don't care who you are or how old you are, your heart picks up the pace as soon as you get the 1st glimpse of the Golf Ball (Spaceship Earth). We get to POR and head into the lobby. BDLsgal's eyes went wide. I had stayed there a couple of times in the past, and I still had the same reaction as she did.

We lucked out and our room was ready. We took in the room, then dropped off our bags and went back to the main building to catch a bus to EPCOT. Get off the bus, and we kind of had to hustle to get to our ADR at Tutto Italia. And for anyone that hasn't been, GO! The food is incredible. We had our EPCOT day,
13076879_959493974166637_7358555570097907469_n.jpg

which included Dinner at Le Cellier. Not only was it a great meal, but it was part of our Candlelight Processional dining combo. After dinner, we received our Candlelight Processional stickers and walked to the American Garden Theater. I thought we had time to take in a sight or 2, but BDLsgal suggested we get in line. Once again, she was right (a lesson that I will learn more and more as time goes on). Because the line for the dining combo people had already stretched to Japan. So we hung out and talked to the people around us, then it was time to head in. We were relatively close, due to the dining combo and BDLsgal being right. Our celebrity narrator was Whoopi Goldberg, and she did a real good job.

If you are able, I highly recommend the Candlelight Processional, especially with the dining combo. The singing from both the professional singers and the high schools choirs is amazing. After the show, we had to hustle, again. Because at that time, a special viewing area for Illuminations was included with the dining combo. We got to the area and were only 3 deep and on a graded incline. Illuminations never lets down. It was a great 1st day

Day 2 started with a pre-rope drop breakfast at Tusker House at Animal Kingdom. A top 3 character breakfast, in my opinion. You get a complimentary picture with Safari Donald, and on the inside, you get a good amount of time with each of the characters decked out in safari gear as well.

And the selection is vast too. You get the old stand-bys like the Mickey waffles, breakfast meats, breads, etc... But also includes things like frittatas, carved meats and beef bobotie. After breakfast, it was all business. By business, I mean rides and photo ops. What I didn't tell you, that while we were waiting to be seated, I ran, without running (you understand), to Expedition Everest to get us fast passes (pre-magic band paper FP's). And then I ran, without running back to Tusker House. So, we left breakfast and went right on the Kilimanjaro Safari. Even with the pre-rope drop ADR, it was still a couple hrs of wait for the FP. It is a fun journey. All the information that the drivers pass on about the animals and their habitats is cool. After the safari, we made leisurely jaunt to EE. And along the way, we stopped for some photo pass and character pics. Also, along the way, we watched the monkeys get around the temple in Asia. Those guys really fly around that thing. But onto EE. It's a great ride. And you can get a really good ride photo afterwards. Unless you're me. Oh, we got the picture alright. It's just that when the pic was snapped, my eyes were shut and I looked like the biggest sissy. After Animal Kingdom, we headed to MGM. Disney's Hollywood Studios to those of you that are less stubborn than me. This is what I had been looking forward to since I 1st booked the trip. Not for the more extreme rides of WDW; But because I had only seen videos of the Osbourne Lights and couldn't wait to see them in person. It did not disappoint. When the switch got flipped, my jaw was on the ground, and just stood there making a circle to take everything in. If you did not get the chance to see the Osbourne Lights in person, I feel sorry for you. It was truly and experience. We walked from 1 end of Streets of America to the other, just taking in the lights and the music.

I did not want to leave. Ever. But we had the MVMCP the next day.

Day 3, was our sleep in and slow paced day. By sleep in, I mean not wake up at 6am. We had a breakfast ADR at Kona Cafe, home of the Tonga Toast and now a staple of every one of our trips. You gotta love banana stuffed french toast.

After that, we simply rode the monorail and took in the decorations of the different resorts. The Grand Floridian had the life sized gingerbread house. And it is not just delicious looking, it is also fun. On the sign next to the gingerbread house, shows the quantity of all of the ingredients it took to make the house, AND how many hidden Mickeys are on it. Good luck finding them all. From there, we headed to the Contemporary. The 1st thing you see when you head into the Contemporary was a 30' Mickey head wreath on the window. When we got off the monorail, that was the 1st time I had ever seen Chef Mickey's. Looked like fun, but I was happy with the ADR's we had made. And then we come to the life sized gingerbread tree (it's different now). It is seriously impressive to see these giant baked goods up close.

After our tour of the monorail resorts, we headed back to our own to get a mid-day nap. We woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed... Ok... We woke up grunting and groaning and tending to our sore feet and muscles. But you get the point. We get to the park, and present our tickets, and get our bracelets. This would be the last time that anyone checked our wrists. That has since changed in recent years. We started off with dinner at Crystal Palace. It's ok food. But we all know why we go. Pooh and friends. After dinner, we caught the Castle lighting show. This was the Mickey and friends show, pre-Anna & Elsa, and really fun. When the Castle lit up, I looked at BDLsgal and I can only imagine that she was wearing the face that I had during the Osbourne Lights. This officially kicked off the MVMCP.

Before we left, for Florida, I thought I had done all the research that we needed for MVMCP. Nope. I didn't know about the exclusive merch and meet & greets. We did our best, though. It was still a great time filled with short to non-existent lines for every ride. We caught the fireworks and the 2nd parade and pretty much closed the park that night.

Days 4-6 was a non-stop blur of park hopping and shopping. We'd do 2 parks in a day or 1 park and a trip to Downtown Disney. 1 of the things that really stood out about this trip was that it was during a record cold streak. We were in our sweatshirts everyday and BDLsgal would throw a wind-breaker on once the Sun went down. Being from Boston, it was cool, but not cold for us. The way the people in the park reacted, you would've thought it was the start of an ice age. No lie. While we were down there, there was a news story about a guy who took a school committee hostage at gun point. And that was the 2nd story on the news. The 1st was the cold and how it affected walk-in restaurant business in the Orlando area.

Now, back to what I alluded to earlier. BDLsgal had told me, and I agreed that I would not propose to her while we were down there. BUT... We had such a magical time, that I couldn't help myself. The night before we were going to head home, we got back from the parks, and I told BDLsgal that she could head back to the room to rest, while I "refilled the mugs". What I did was go into the Port Orleans - Riverside gift shop and bought a Mickey ring, just so I'd have something to put on her finger. I was so excited and nervous, that I actually had forgotten to fill the mugs. Luckily, I was only 1/2 way to the room when I realized this. So I go back, fill the mugs and head back to the room. I try to play off the rest of the night, putting on my best poker face. Our final day comes, and we head to MK. We did the rides, did some shopping, and all the while, I'm keeping BDLsgal on my right side, cuz the ring is in my left pocket. As we head out, I suggest getting 1 last photo pass pic with the Castle in the background. The photographer takes the pics and she's ready to pick up our bags and head out. But I stop her and ask the photographer, if he could take just 1 more. I think he knew what was up. From behind him, a woman grunted in frustration. Luckily, her husband caught on to what was going on, explained it to her and she got real quiet and turtled. So, I got on 1 knee and give a from the hip proposal. Like I said, we went down with a specific "no proposal" plan. So I'm babbling like a brook, and I am getting no read on BDLsgal's face. Just a look of "What are you doing?" And I found out later, that was what she was thinking. I have a bad knee and she thought I was tending to it. So, the lightbulb goes off, she catches on, and long story, slightly less long, we are husband and wife today.

That was our 1st trip in a nut shell. Keep an eye out for the next 2 trips.

Like many of you, 1 of the 1st things I do when I get to work is check on the free dining reports to see if the dates had been released yet. The 2nd thing I do, is I email my AAA travel agent to see if she has heard anything. And while we are on the subject, my AAA TA is amazing. Janet has helped me book our previous 3 trips and is helping me with this 1. She has always been a source of information and insight. Also, if/when things go wrong, I can give her a call, or send her and email, and I have every confidence that she will come through for me.

I know that a lot of you book your own trips. But with a support system like Janet, I can't see doing it any other way.

Well... The free dining gods did not smile upon me. I get to work, go to the Disney site, click the special offers, BOOM!!!! Free dining is listed. I click the link, click the mods, OH MY GOD!!!! Port Orleans-Riverside is there. YAY!!!!!!

Whoa... Not so fast. POR is only particpating in the 1st wave, ending Oct 1st. What a burn.

But, like I mentioned in my previous post, my AAA is on the job. She has already contacted me telling me that even though we did not qualify for FD, a room only discount might be in the future. Fingers crossed.

I hope you all had better free dining luck than I did.

Ok. Time for my 1st restaurant review. Tutto Italia

As I mentioned in a previous post Tutto Italia has been our first meal destination, once we get to The World. A lot of people rave about Via Napoli, saying that it is far superior to Tutto Italia; and I can't say with 100% certainty that TT is better than VN (we've never eaten at VN), we just know TT is "for us." Before I go any further, I must point out that BDLsgal did a couple of semesters abroad, in Italy, so I defer to her opinion on things like this. And she has stated "This is as close to real Italian food that I've had in America." This statement carries a lot of weight. We live in Newton, MA (just down the Pike from Boston) and there is no shortage of Italian restaurants in the area. Some excellent, some really good, and some "Did they just nuke some Chef Boy-ar-dee and try to pass it off as ravioli?" But, even with the whole gamut of Italian restaurants to choose from, she still said that she's never had anything on this side of the Atlantic Ocean like TT.

I do have to post a warning, here. When you get seated and your server takes your drink order, that will also provide you with complimentary olives. I hate olives and I usually never eat them. But on our first trip to TT, I was starving and it was as close to food at the time. So I grabbed one, put it in my mouth and chomped down hard. Yep... It was an olive with the pit still inside. And this was my 1st "Ugh... Why did I do that?" moment that I had mentioned before.

Originally, when we'd go here, we'd start off with the prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. It was a nice salty/sweet way to start off the meal. But it's no longer offered. So now she starts with a salad and I start with the calamari, which is great. It is salty and has a nice kick of heat. When it comes to the entree's, very rarely do we stray. BDLsgal will get the risotto with shrimp. It is really good and they definitely do not skimp on the shrimp or risotto. The shrimp is always cooked right and the risotto itself is never too creamy or too hard. Myself, I get the lasagna bolognese. In my opinion, it is the most delicious brick you will ever eat. And when say brick, I mean brick. The piece is at least 1&1/2 times the size of my fist. And it is just layer after layer of an amazing meat sauce. Yum! The best things about the entree's was that though they were filling, they weren't heavy. An ideal meal to charge you up for a lot of walking around the park.

When we went the first time, and it was time for dessert, we looked at the menu, and even though BDLsgal had loved the food, she seemed disinterested, and sighed. I said to her that I thought she liked her meal and she said that everything was great. Then I asked if there was anything wrong? She then told me that because of her semesters abroad, she was kind of an Italian dessert snob. She said that when she got back, everything she tried from the most Italian of Italian bakeries, just paled in comparison. This included Mike's, Modern and Antoine's (I know it sounds French but it's Italian). So, I said, let's just split the dessert sampler (also, no longer on the menu). In the sampler was a small sorbetti, a canoli and a piece of tiramisu. 2 of those I don't like (I knew this ahead of time, I just wanted BDLsgal to enjoy something sweet), so I took the sorbetti. She ate the canoli, and said it was ok. When she took that 1st bite of the tiramisu, her whole demeanor changed. She LOVED IT!!!! She said that TT "...makes it the right way." She loved it so much that for the rest of the day and the rest of the trip, whenever there was a lull in the conversation, she would talk about how much she loved the tiramisu.

The restaurant itself has a great feel to it. It looks formal but is as casual as anywhere else. So it's good for just a walk-in with the family or for a couple's date night. The wait staff are always on the move but never seem in a rush and never get in each others' way. Which I always find fascinating. The prices are fairly reasonable (we usually use the dining plan but still look at the prices for the tip). Especially with the quality and quantity that you get.

I highly recommend Tutto Italia.

This past weekend, BDLsgal went to my cousin's baby shower. And it reminded me of a story from our last trip.

So, our last trip was in Dec of 2014. It was shortly after said cousin's wedding. We had a great vacation. But this story is about the trip back home. BDLsgal and I are MCO, in the terminal waiting for our boarding call. Then, lo and behold, there is my cousin and her new husband. Apparently, MCO was their layover airport on their way to Boston from their Caribbean honeymoon. So, as the initial shock of meeting each other wore off, an announcement came over the intercom. Our flight was delayed. Ugghhhh... So, while BDLsgal and I slouched back into our uncomfortable chairs, the newlyweds (in pure young people fashion) made their way to the terminal bar. After about an hour, another announcement came out. Boarding will begin shortly. I left BDLsgal with our carry-on stuff, in the waiting area while I went to track down the newlyweds to tell them the news. I found them. And they were in a much more "happier" place than when we last seen them. But we make our way back to the terminal.

It's boarding time. We all board the plane together. And wouldn't you know it... They are sitting in the row right in front of us. But, it was a late flight that was made even later. So very little conversation took place. We land at Logan, and are told to pick up our bags at carousel "X". Everyone gets there, and an airport worker tells us "NO. You gotta go to carousel 'Y', fast!" So the whole horde of passengers head to carousel "Y". And as we are going there we see some of the stragglers from the flight and I see a guy that I don't know personally but can't shake that I know him from some where. We tell the stragglers and we all go to carousel "Y" en mass. We get there and there is an airport worker telling us, that we need to get back to carousel "X". Ugghhh... This is all happening at about 1 in the morning, mind you. So we get to carousel "X" and all 4 of us are trying to keep an eye out for each others' bags. A couple people over is that guy that I recognize, but don't know from where and it's driving me nuts. We are slowly stock piling our bags, and that guy gets his bags an leaves. My cousin-in-law goes "That was Joey Kramer!" Holy $**T!!!!! That's right. How could I not pick up on that. Joey Kramer from Aerosmith. Anyways, we get all our bags. The newlyweds left their car at Logan, and we had a service picking us up ( Smurf's Transportation . A great service if you are in the Boston/Metro-west area). We said our goodbyes, and left the baggage area, at the same time. BDLsgal and I get to the Smurfs vehicle and after the driver identified himself and checked that we were, the first thing he said was "Did you see Joey Kramer in there?"

Just thought I'd share that story from vacations past with you.

Got some good news recently. My best friend will be going to WDW around the same time that we will. He and I have been tight since we met playing football together at Worcester State College (now University), back in 1992. He was my best man and delivered the toast at my wedding last October. He was also the 1 that gave us the trip to Cancun as a wedding gift. He and I used to go down to WDW, every other year as part of a group of guys, vacationing together. We'd always maximize our Pleasure Island time (RIP PI), and make sure to, at least once, have the whole group of us on It's A Small World at the same time. Not because we liked the ride, but to take in the reactions from the people in line, that a herd of grown men that were pretty much 6'+ / 250 lbs+ across the board, would go on Small World on purpose. We'd get our laughs. Then we'd realize... "We're on Small World..." Oops.

BDLsgal and I had actually met up with him on our last 2 trips to The World. In 2012, he went down with his wife and son. And in 2014, he was down there with just his son. BDLsgal stepped up like a trooper and offered to entertain the youngster, while me and my buddy caught up and hung out together at DTD. Afterwards. he and I had a bunch of laughs and Ghiradelli sundaes, and she now knows everything there is to know about Lego Chima, and how to build a Lego racer outside the store. I couldn't say "thank you" enough. In fact, I'm still saying "thank you" 2 yrs later.

It will be great to catch up with him again. And maybe have a drink or 2 while watching Yee Haw Bob. Just another reason why this will be a great trip.

Had a mixed blessing, realization last night. Since we started planning our trip, I've been doing a lot of walking lately. One, build up my stamina. And, two, to lose weight so that when I have a backpack full of my and BDLgal's stuff, and it will balance out. For my birthday, in March, she gave me a FitBit to help track my progress. If you have the means, I suggest them. Helps to motivate you that much more to reach your goals. So, since I am walking more, I've been putting more mileage on my sneakers (tennis shoes for those on the West coast). To the point where I am already starting to wear through my insoles. I don't have to replace the sneakers just yet. I think I can get a couple of more months. Which would be the perfect time to get new sneakers, and break them in for our vacation.

Now, I am a very dedicated New Balance guy. I kind of have to be. My foot size is 13EEEE. Not many brands come like that. But New Balance does. Not only that, but just outside of Boston is a New Balance outlet store. Where I can get sneakers in my size and for under $35. If you haven't tried New Balance, I recommend you give them a shot. For our last trip, I was shopping for the new sneakers, and not only did I find great, cheap sneakers in my size, but of different functionalities. Soft soles to comfort the feet. Hard soles to assist in the momentum. Walking, cross-trainers, running, canvas, leather, etc... In the end, I got 2 pairs, of different varieties. And they were worth every penny.

Give 'em a try. Especially if you live in the Boston area. You got nothing to lose. Also, if you are planning a trip to Disney, I recommend a 3 month window to break in new sneakers for the trip.

Time for another restaurant review. This is another restaurant that we always eat at. This is always our breakfast destination on our Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party days. It's the Kona Cafe (you can see pics for both above).

Because this is on our MVMCP day, there is no rush to wake up. So this is also our slow pace day. We wake up and do all our morning rituals. Brush our teeth. Brush our hair. Wash our faces. Tend to our foot blisters. You know the usual WDW morning. And because we take it easy, we use a very unorthodox way to get to our reservation. Some people will tell you to take the bus to the MK and then take the monorail back to the Polynesian, and then check in at the restaurant. WE... Just take a cab. There it is. Nothing special. Just a few bucks out of pocket and we don't have to worry about chasing buses or missing monorails. Now, Kona Cafe is arguably the best breakfast food you will have in The Kingdom. And as such, no matter what time your ADR is, and no matter how early you ar for the ADR, you will still have to wait. We grab our buzzer, and we will head to the Polynesian's gift shop. We keep an eye out for resort specific merchandise, and hard to find pins (for keeping, not for trading). And after that, we sort of cheat and peak our head into the Ohana breakfast and watch the kids interact with Lilo and Stitch. By this time, *bzzzz* *bzzzz* *bzzzz* *bzzzz* . IT'S BREAKFAST TIME!!!! I mean. Our buzzer goes off, and we check in. We get seated, say "Yes, we would like some coffee" and we go through the ruse of accepting the menus. We've known what we've wanted since we booked our ADR. I get the Big Kahuna. I go with the Big Kahuna, because there is a lot of food that comes with it. Pancakes, french toast, eggs, and all the breakfast pork items. Yum. BDLsgal, has her favorite too. She will go with the Tonga Toast. The Tonga Toast is banana stuffed sour dough, french toast that had been rolled in cinnamon sugar and has strawberry compote on the side. Now, as a PSA to all of you. BDLsgal's Tonga Toast is HER Tonga Toast. There is no sharing, and if you suddenly reach for a sugar packet and the holder is in the same vicinity as the Tonga Toast, you may not come home with the same number of fingers that you went on vacation with. But we have found a middle ground. We each get our own breakfasts and then split an order of Tonga Toast. Now... You may think this is ridiculous. You may think that this is unnecessary. But I am here to tell you, it is totally worth it. And, accidentally we discovered, it works out perfectly for us. Because we are not doing the park, during the day, we won't be snacking or getting lunch before we go to the MVMCP.

After the Kona breakfast, it is monorail riding and resort hopping. After that, IT'S NAP TIME... Ahhhhhh... That rare rejuvenating period that (depending on who you talk to) is either a life saver or a waste of Disney time. Still, Ahhhhhhh..............

As much as I love basking, just in the fact that BDLsgal and I are going to Disney in Dec, I sometimes get that rare "Wake Up, Stupid!" moments. Like today. Just messing around on the PC this morning, looking at Disboards (of course) and then I looked at my countdown ticker. And I love seeing that little pin go from left to right. THEN, I noticed the time remaining and it hit me. It is less than 3 weeks til we can book our ADR's, and we have no idea what and where we are going to eat after Day 3. Uh oh. Days 1-3 are easy. Day 1 is check-in and then we usually do Candlelight Processional w/ Illuminations (and it is usually a PM EMH day). So odds are, it will be Tutto Italia dining combo, with a couple of visits to places like Karamelle Kuche and Electric Umbrella (and maybe check off a few of the "drinking around the World"). Day 2 was usually our AK then MGM day, with the highlight being the Osbourne Lights at night. But without the Osbourne lights, that will free us up to do Dinner With Minnie. In the morning we'll do Tusker House at AK. Day 3 is our sleep in, Kona Cafe, resort hop MVMCP day. So, obviously, it's Kona Cafe in the morning, and then either Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree Tavern, some time between 4-6pm.

After that... I don't have a freakin' idea. I know we'll do Hoop Dee Doo Revue 1 night. So that only leaves 5 1/2 days left to plan meals for. I know, in the grand scheme of things, this isn't even a real issue. But there are some things that we will be shooting for. Maybe Cinderella's Royal Table? Maybe a late, waterside dinner during Illuminations? Try to get into 1 of the new restaurants? I don't know.

It's going to be a long process. But a good 1 to have.

As I last mentioned, our ADR date is coming up (it's this Saturday). But last weekend, I had a sort of rough draft. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law will be going to WDW, in Oct. They are doing a 7d/6n DxDP trip the week of Columbus Day. So, I helped SIL set up her My Disney Experience app for her iPad, and we went to work. And when I say "we", I mean WE. Me, my wife (BDLsgal), and my in-laws. All of us manning our iPads. SIL was on her MDE app. My wife and I were on AllEars. And my MIL was on youtube.

Like BDLsgal and I with the MVMCP, they will be doing 2 visits to MNSSHP. So we started with those points and worked backwards. On each of the nights, the will be having a late lunch/early dinner at either Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree Tavern. But SIL will be keeping an eye out for a Be Our Guest opening and make the adjustments, if necessary. Then we focused on the dinners for the rest of the trip. And we secured a 2nd show of Hoop Dee Doo Revue. BDLsgal and I told them about how cool it was to see the campsites decorated for Christmas, that I hope they do it for Halloween too. After that, it was booking Minnie's Hollywood and Dine. Up until this point, my MIL had just been nodding along with what we've been saying. Being fairly non-responsive when we said something was a character meal or not. BUT... When BDLsgal says "They have lobster&shrimp mac n' cheese" she lit like a Christmas Tree. The next dinners they secured were for Yak and Yeti and Rose & Crown. My SIL is really looking forward to seeing the new AK light shows and Illuminations. The only remaining questions is if they opt in for the Illuminations Sparkling party, FP+ or try to find a spot on their own.

Next on the docket was the breakfasts. And to my SIL's she was very focused and planned for these. Right off the bat she snagged a pre-RD Garden Grill breakfast. And I didn't even know they served breakfast. Then we run into a speed bump. She was hoping to get a Tusker House breakfast. But the earliest she could find was for 10:45am. I suggested holding off on booking that and keeping an eye out on the website and to find a November Cancelled ADR thread.

That left them some open times to try to fill. Mostly either breakfasts or early lunches. A couple of places that they were looking into was 1900 Park Fare (I have no idea what strawberry soup is, and I don't want to know), 50's Prime Time and Biergarten. The 1 tricky part is that my MIL can't handle anything spicy. And some times too much pepper is too spicy for her. So that takes certain restaurants out of the equation.

By next week, hopefully, I'll be able to post our ADR's and have a good idea about our itinerary.

Seeya then.

Alright... Our ADR day came and went. And we did pretty good. Got most of the ones that we wanted at the times that we wanted (+/- 30-60 min). There is 1 ADR that I really wanted to get that wasn't available then and is still not available now. Trust me. I check at least once a day. Now, these ADR's are pretty much set in stone, because we will be going to 2 MVMCP's. So that limits the flexibility of our other days. But there is SOME lee way, depending on who narrates and which ressies we get for the Candlelight Processional. So, without further adieu, here are BDL's and BDLsgal's ADR's:

12/8 Thur (arrival day) 4:15pm Raglan Road - DS (after dinner and Irish music show, Yee Ha Bob at POR)
12/9 Fri 4:30pm Tutto Italia - EPCOT
12/10 Sat 9:35am Tusker House - AK
--------- 4:35pm Minnie's Hollywood & Dine - DHS
12/11 Sun 9:10am Kona Cafe - Poly
--------- 4:30pm Crystal Palace - MK (pre-MVMCP)
12/12 Mon 8:05am Cinderella Royal Table (pre-rope drop)
--------- 4:00pm Hoop Dee Doo Revue (after dinner walk around the campsites and see the decorations)
12/13 Tue 9:05am Hollywood & Dine - DHS
--------- 4:30pm Liberty Tree Tavern - MK (pre-MVMCP)
12/14 Wed 12:00n Biergarten - EPCOT
--------- 7:20pm Rose & Crown - EPCOT
12/15 Thur 5:45pm Be Our Guest - MK
12/16 Fri (Departure Day) 12:30pm Le Cellier - EPCOT

We hope to run into some of you while we are down there.

Does it seem that preparing for Disney is almost like another job? I'm not complaining, because I know the pay off is more than worth it. But with the watching of the different threads for hints, or clicking like mad on the dining page to get that elusive meal.

But 1 aspect of the job that has a real benefit is trying to get the body into Disney shape. For the past few weeks, I've been walking at lunch. Nothing big. Just 15-20+min, for about a mile or 2. Gotta get the endurance up and the weight down. And I finally think that I am starting to make some progress. The shirts are fitting a little better, the back and knees don't hurt as much and I am not as wheezy (even with the brutal allergies we've been beaten over the head with in the Northeast). I still have a long way to go, but my goal is to be able to walk the parks without going "Oww... Uhhh... Unnghh... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." when I climb into bed at the end of a Disney day.

I hope you are all have the same kind of luck.

Following!! I am from RI and work in Boston and we will be there same time as you. If I get ambitious I might try a PTR. I did one last year and the extra planning really helped out while we were there.

Hi. thanks for following. And if you do put out a PTR, let me know and I'll follow along as well.

Hi all. It's been a while. I'm sorry. Work wanting me to do work, is really getting annoying. And the construction adding another floor to the house is getting on my last nerve. Not the work itself. I was a laborer for most of my life and I understand all the ins and outs and hurdles. That's all expected. An absentee contractor that is doing call screening is a different ball game.

But... I've refocused my priorities, and now I'm back, on DISboards (top of the list)

And it is testimonial time. This time, it's not about the the restaurants, resorts or rides. It's about the 1 thing that can really ruin a trip, if it is not accounted for. That's the walking. I believe it is said that an average person can walk between 5-8 miles in a day at Disney. With that said, building up muscles and endurance will be a big benefit. But on top of that, what you wear on your feet is just as important.

A few weeks ago, BDLSgal and I took advantage of a 30% sale at our local New Balance outlet and we walked out with a few pairs each. Since then, I have been working to break in a couple of pairs of sneakers just to get them ready for our trip. I've been on the losing end of wearing not-broken in sneakers and WAY-too-broken in sneakers and the foot, knee, back and muscle pains; and don't get me started on the blisters.

So, the New Balance model shoes that I am breaking in are the M940WB2 (soft soled and light) and MR993GL (hard soled, sturdy, good for posture). The 940's caused blisters the 1st 2 days I wore them. But that could've been my fault. I had not tightened them up since buying them. But 10 days later, the shoe is now conformed to my feet. The 993's took a little longer because of their stronger design. And even though they are a heavier shoe, the more I walk, the less I feel them. So these 2 are now ready for Disney. I have 2 more pairs at my disposal to break in for the trip, and will pick the 2 best pair for 10 days of walking the World.

There's 1 more thing that I picked up, and this has made a world of difference. That is the New Balance Titanium knee wrap. It was an impulse buy during a 30% off sale. I tried it out and made a world of difference for my cartilage and ligament free knee. It was a 1 size fits all and it was too small, but still made a difference. BDLsgal found 1 my size on Amazon. Now, not only does my knee feel better, but I'm feeling leg and back muscles that I hadn't felt in a long time.

Already looking forward to less pain from walking, and even worse, the morning after tightness.
