I was reading on another forum that there is usually a thread on this forum where people post car rental codes and prices they're able to reserve for each month. Has one been started for December 2011 yet? I searched and couldn't find one.

If not, here's mine:

Source: Dollar Rent-a-car Website
Dec. 2 - 9
No code used (I am a Dollar Express member - don't know if I got a discount becuase of that)
Mid-Size (Hyundai Sonata or similar)
$199.74 including taxes and fees

What about you? Please post prices including taxes and fees. Thanks!

Dollar seems to have the best prices right now. For my dates Dollar has a mid size car for $180.08 Alamo is $268.00 National is crazy high at $350.00.
All these quotes are including taxes and fees.
I have booked with Dollar, which also included triple airline miles with USairways.
I hope prices will come down a bit between now and then.

I think it's a very good price at Dollar, but I prefer National as I'm an Emerald Club member and like the aisle. Hope their rates come down. If someone sees low National rates in December please share!

I also wonder if Dollar and Thrifty are so much lower than the others due to them being up for sale.

I used to get really lucky all the time and get SUVs off the aisle for the price of an intermediate. I guess they've gotten better with their inventory allocations lately, as that seems to be rare now.

Thanks for mentioning the triple miles. I forgot to mention that. I think they're offering that for a couple of airlines.

It's Car and Driver Magazine's code for Enterprise Rent-A-Car (since Enterprise bought National, most new Enterprise codes also work on the National site).

You can also try 3715444 (Car and Driver code for National).

If you're a Costco member, try CSTCX8, CSTGSU9, or CSTMAYC (Again, these are borrowed from Enterprise, not all of them will work on National's site)

I think this is now the "official" December 2011 rental car thread because I haven't been able to find another one either!

We have booked through Thrifty for Dec 3-12 for $219 for the "Wild Car" compact or larger. It's ok but I think the prices will get a lot better. We had a 7 day rental in mid June through Alamo midsize for $114 including all taxes and fees. Early Dec should be a slower time of year so I would hope prices would approach what I got this summer if not be better yet.

I might as well share my reservation too then:

December 27-31, one way MCO->FLL, $226 with taxes and fees, National, Code XVC1092. I probably won't do much better than this, considering this is one of the few codes which waives the Underage fee.

Glad I started it then!

I think you're right that rates may go even lower as we get closer. Wow $114 including taxes and fees?!? That's awesome! Hope we get rate like that for December. I may feel better about going to. CA Grill!

Wow Enterprise bought National from Alamo? I worked at Enterprise years ago and never would have thunk it. I may have to change my preferred rental company. I would not enjoy being faced with the high pressure CDW sales pitch I had to give at Enterprise when I was employed by them.

Enterprise now owns National and Alamo, but they haven't messed with Emerald Club, so you can still avoid the hard sell. No idea if the situation at the counter is any worse than it was before Enterprise bought them.

One kind of nice thing is that you can earn Emerald Club credits at Enterprise now, but yes, that requires putting up with their hard sells. Enterprise does have a lot of neighbourhood locations though.

December 10th-18th...booked with Enterprise through the Entertainment book website. Used the double upgrade coupon- $194 for an intermediate.

I have been looking for rentals from Dec. 6 to 13 on Hotwire.com and the rate is $143.16 with taxes for a mid size car. I don't know which co. until I book but it will one of the major co. I think that's a good deal.

Sounds like a good price. I don't think I've ever got anything lower than around $200 for a week all in. It does sometimes amaze me that I am paying the same amount of money for my car (and flight, actually) as I was paying in 2001/2002.

But I will keep checking. Heck, if it goes down $10 - $20 that's a round of Dole Whips!

Please let us know what company you get if you book. I do tend to be particular about the company I book with so it would be nice to know which one it is.

I just booked with Hotwire for Dec. 3-10 for a mid size car for $143.16. The company is Hertz.

I'm on the hunt for a great deal for December 8- 14...... I had really good luck with my May trip!

what I find odd is it says on hotwire that the rental place is at the terminal. Did Hertz move to the terminal? I've used them in the past I always had to take the little bus to hertz.

I currently have a mid-size booked with Thrifty for Dec. 20-27 @ $209.08. I can't remember if I used a code, although I'm sure I did use something. Whatever it is it's not listed in my confirmation. I'm hoping to get something for the same price or lower with either Alamo or Hertz (I'm a #1 Gold member). Those are my 2 car rental companies of choice, but I've got to go with the cheapest price. I hope I won't regret that decision.

Yeah, Hertz (and their sister brand Advantage) have been on-terminal since sometime in 2009 at MCO, iirc.
