December 2009 discounts

I have read several different things on this topic...just wondering if I can maybe get some kind of solid insight on it?? We are planning our next trip for December this year. The dates that we are looking at are Dec. 3-11. I think we will stay the 3rd til the 9th at POR and then the last 2 nights at AKV. We have never been to AKV and really want to experience it, but with the holidays, can't do it the whole stay. I have been checking every few days and both rooms are still available...so I've been holding out. Still unsure about spending the money?? What I was wondering was what the real chances are of a discount coming out for this time? I have seen "no way due to Pop Warner" and "if it was coming, you'd have it already" and "every other time this year was discounted, so probably". What do I believe?

I would have to say no way due to the fact that I will be there in December with my family and I am not that lucky...now next year which is our off year from WDW there will be great December discounts...

Never say never! Disney ran a discount on their hotel rooms last year for Nov and Dec. We paid about $500 less than what we would have had to. And it wasn't a pin code sent to my email addy. This was a generic discount code available from their booking website. We were there from just after Thanksgiving till a few days after Pop Warner started. Keep your eyes peeled! I'm hoping they'll do the same this year!!

I would remain optimistic that there will be deals especially later in the year and next year.

With an uneasy global economy combined with increasing oil prices people will scale back their vacation expenses since those are easy to control. Disney is seeing a drop in visitors which is why we are seeing more deals today. This will most likely continue and increase. If it does people who are fortunate enough to afford travel to Disney may enjoy deals like most of us have never seen.
