December 2009 Code Watch

I am hearing so many people getting PINs for FD in December that I am wondering if they will extend it to at least Disney Visa Card Holders...if not open it up to the public. I have seen posts all over the DIS of people getting PINs for the Free Dining. TOTALLY just speculating here, but wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing.

I called and they applied the free dining pin to my All Star family suite! And I will be able to apply it to the other two rooms that are part of our Grand Gathering! I am so excited!
Here's to hoping that everyone else is successful too!

I called and got a free dining pin that we didn't even know we had. I'm so excited. We are going to pick our dates and a couple possible hotels tonight! Thanks for being such a great board!

Has anyone set up a split stay with the FD pin? I'm just wondering how you work the park tickets out between the two hotels?

How are the crowds the first and 2nd week of December? Anyone know how that compares to September after Labor Day? Thanks

We've never been there during Pop Warner, but right after is a great time to go. Labor Day week is quieter though, but Dec. has never been "busy" for us until right before Christmas. Based on the weather, and the holidays, I much prefer going in December.

Does anyone know what the weather is like in December? I am starting to think about what I'll need to bring but I don't know if it is chilly or not?

Our family has been every December for the last 15 years! We've had everything from 32 degrees and freezing rain to 80 degrees. I start to check the weather every day about 2 weeks before we leave. The best plan is to dress in layers..short sleeve shirt under a sweatshirt. Most of the time the high is around 75 and beautiful!

is very bad at Magic Kingdom; you are dealing with the TV taping of the Christmas parade there. You have POP Warner for the second week of December. This isn't so bad, but it's something extra going on.

I kind of think the week after Labor Day in September would be nicer overall. It can get cold and rainy in December. In September it can get hot and rainy. What do you prefer?

The difference is whether you want to see the Christmas activities or not. I'm a sucker for the Christmas events; so, December is still my choice.

I disagree. We have been there the 1st week of Dec and have never had any rain. If you look at any of the Disney guide, like The Unoffical Guide to Walt Disey World, you will see that Dec is one of the months with the lowest rainfall. The temps have been in the higher 70's, low 80's. I will admit that the weather can be unpredictable and there may be a day of cooler temps. But since we are from PA, it is all warm for us. Check one of the weather websites for historical temps and precip. The Christmas parade is usually the first weekend in Dec and mainly Sat. If you just plan to go to another park on Sat, you would not even notice that the parade taping was going on. We have stayed at Pop Century in Dec during Pop Warner and never noticed any disturbance from the at all. I will agree that the Christmas decorations are amazing.
We have had such great vacations during this time we are going back again this year for 10 days.:santa:

We're going down the first week of December (11/29-12/08) and can't wait. I've never been down in December...only January, July and October. In January, we've had weather in the 50s-60s and weather in the 80s.

If weather up in the Northeast is any indicator of trending down in florida....I suspect that early december will be less likely to get real cold. The past few years, it doesn't get super cold up here until mid january...

Regardless, I couldn't care if it were 30 degrees down there.

A 30 degree day at WDW beats an 80 degree day anywhere else on the planet...

Hey, we will be there the same exact days.:woohoo:

Rec a code in the mail today and only good until 12-23-09, we are going 12-28-09 to 1-1-10

I called to ask about a trip for Dec.17-25. I was quoted a trip with dining when I showed reluctance to book the operator offer me free dining. I book right then my trip went from 4800.00 to 3200.00. The free dining sure helps a family of 5.:santa:
