December 11, 2004 Eastern cruise thread

Hi!We are doing fine!We were pretty lucky once again compared to what everyone else is going through. We now wait for our flooded yard to go back to normal.Yes,this is unbelievable. To think they are two more months,I don't even want to think that.

Villaness,Have fun at WDW with your niece.I am sure she will have a fantastic trip. The sun was out this afternoon,so hopefully Wednesday it will be nice in Orlando.

Have a great week everyone!

Hello! This sounds like a great thread! I am a single mom and will be on my first DC on Dec. 11th. I have a 3 1/2 yr. old girl and she is so excited about cruising! Anymore single moms or dads sailing this date? I hope that I have a lot of fun and am not bored! We were supposed to sail 9/4 and our plans got messed up because of frances!
:earsgirl: princess:

Welcome micah31nurse!! Don't worry, I don't think you will get bored. We wondered the same thing last year before we sailed. One week seemed like a long time to spend on one ship. But the week flew by and we didn't have time to do a lot of the things we wanted.... Thus the need to cruise again this Year!!!

Welcome Micah31nurse! How our "family" is growing!!

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that our same cruise in 2006 (Dec. 9th) is one of the special Western itineraries with two stops at CC. I think we are going to book it and try to go two years between cruises. I think we can do it if I know I'm going to bask in the sun on Castaway Cay twice in one week!

We are cruising on this sailing!
Me, DH, DD age 12, and DS age 10.
We are sailing with my cousin and her family too!
Sailing on the Magic in December just can't be beat!!

pirate: Pirate night here we come!

Welcome jiminy579!

I have a DD who will be just a month shy of 11 when we sail. My daughter is so excited that there are several girls around her age.

Final payment has been made, airline reservations made, hotel reservations taken care of... now I just need to reserve our limo/van service from MCO to the Radisson. I know there are several companies i.e. FL Tours, Happy Limo, Southern Elegance, but does anybody here have any opinions on which one they have used and liked?

Thanks.

I feel like that commerical where the child and dad were "too excited to sleep"!

What is the weather normally like on the cruise ship in December.
Any idea of what excursions to go on with a 3 1/2 yo? She is very good for 3 and used to sitting through things, but I want her to have a good time!:earsgirl: princess:

micah31nurse

I hear the weather is pretty nice in December. I think I read that the average temp is in the 80's. Some say that the water at Castaway Cay can sometimes be on the chilly side depending on what you are use to and others say they thought the water was perfect.

Heads up regarding excursions- you might want to check out Disney's website for ages that are allowed on the excursions. We were looking at doing the Trunk Bay excursion in St. Thomas through Disney Cruise line but found out the minimum age for that excursion is 5 years old. We will end up going on our own so our 1 year old an go, which other DIS'ers say is really easy.

Welcome!

Hi Everyone!

Back from our short hop to WDW. Weather was perfect, sunny every day, no rain, but very hot!!! 91 which is too hot when walking toe parks.

Enjoyed the firewoerks at Wishes. I have the CD of the music during Wishes but have never seen it before. It was great!!

Had some new experiences this trip.....there was a pyrotechnic convention going on at one of the convention centers in the park and Thursday night they put on a firework display at 9:00 off the lake of the MK. We were staying at the Poly and had a great view when it started. WOW! WOW! WOW!!! I have never in my life seen fireworks like these. The person at the hotel and the TV said that there was competition between various companies and it showed. It was awesome......I can't describe this event. There aren't enough words that could convey the colors, the sounds etc.

Then we went to the Halloween Party in the MK (I didn't realize this was going on....I wasn't paying attention to the Disney Chat groups etc) so we bought a costume for Allie (Jasmine) and went in to the MK. I wish I would have known then I would have taken a costume as well. The park was open from 6-12 mn. with 2 parades, special fireworks and trick or treating throughout the park. Great fun. The fireworks that night were set to spookier music than Wishes etc. The castle was lit in purples, greens etc to make it look scary as well as the lights on main street. The lights were low throughout the park which gave it a Halloween atmosphere.

Allie got chosen to be one of the children on the Grand Marshall wagon for the 10:00 parade which thrilled her to death!! She said she always wanted to be in a little hometown parade they have, but she was in THE DISNEY Parade!! I'm so glad she was brave enogh to get on the plane for this trip. She had a great time.....I know, my feet are killing me! Glad to be back home.

Welcome home Villainess,It sounds like you all had a great time.I love the fireworks at the parks. They are awesome.I bet these other ones you saw were spectacular.Yes,the FL weather here has been very hot lately, and the humidity level doesn't help either. We don't have fall here in FL like you do.That is great that Allie got chosen to be in the parade.I bet that was truly enjoyed.Glad to hear you all had a great time.

My mom and I are on this cruise. I can't wait till December. We went on one cruise in 2002. It was only a four day. We can't wait to do the seven day. Three days at sea. YEAH! I was also wondering if any one has ever booked an unconfirmed stateroom? That's what we have for now. I guess when we get our paperwork we'll have our stateroom number. They say you might get an upgrade with an unconfirmed room. Does any have experience with this sitution?

Thanks,

Jen ::MickeyMo

Hi Jen,

I have booked an unconfirmed stateroom before with other Princess and one time got a good upgrade. The other time I got one in the class that I was paying for.

I am sure November will be a long......month because all of us are so anxious for this cruise to come. I am always so excited the last month for every cruise I have taken. It will be nice to be with grandchildren on this cruise.....this is our first Disney cruise!

Hi everyone. Welcome to our new cruisers.
Just got power and phones back yesterday. So here I am taking a break from cleaning and checking my "feel good place."
Looks like our little group is growing.
Just 10 more weeks! Kind of got sidetracked last month. Need to get cracking on what we need to buy!
Everyone have a great weekend.

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited, my daughter Jen (adult) and I are going on the first seven day cruise of our life! We can't wait! Was just wondering if there were any other Mother and daughter combo going to be on the ship? The first trip was a four day with a veranda, this time we are going with a inside stateroom no port hole or anything, I am a little nervous about that! Any experience with inside staterooms?

Thanks, Hope to see you on the ship!
Millie ::MinnieMo

My travel agent called today. Our final payment is due on October 12th. She said we can book excursions once our paperwork comes from Dinsey 3-4 weeks out.

It will be very soon!

Welcome Millie and Jen!
We've only done inside rooms on our two cruises and have been fine with them. I suppose we don't know what we are missing. I do miss the daylight in the morning but we are all morning people so getting up is not usually a problem.

I'm SO excited that our "family" is growing!!!
Please be sure to purchase the "DIS" lime green buttons and wear them on the embarkation day. We plan to have a DIS meet on deck 10 before the sail-away party. Isn't that right?? Also a friendly competition to see who will end up at the port first (me, me, me, meeeee)

momto2dkids: I put a picture of my 6-year old and a drawing he did in the mail today. I asked him to draw a picture of him on the cruise boat - I think you'll be surprised what he drew!

fran: WOW - this long without electricity! Is there anything we can do to help?? Like the starfish said in Finding Nemo - "find a happy place, find a happy place, find a happy place"!

You've got a mother/daughter team right here. It will be myself and DD (also adult).

If you liked the 4 day cruise - you will LOVE the seven day! Do you have the early or late dinner seating?

Sorry I can't help on the inside stateroom. We're hung up on the verandah. I love to sit out there early morning and late at night.

Where in NJ are you located? We're from Trenton originally.

Too funny fran - look we posted one minute apart from eachother !

jwann - we must have been typing at the same time; but you hit submit first.

Many thanks for the offer. Things are slowly getting back to normal. BUT can you make the days fly by?

fran

I'll see what I can do...
