We're going on our first WDW trip this Dec. during the same week as Pop Warner. Right now I have ASMo booked for 3 nights and Poly GVC book for the last 4 nights. I initially picked ASMo for my DDs (5 & 8)-it will be DD8th birthday on Dec. 5th and I thought they would like this hotel alot. I then picked Poly GVC for my husband & my 10th anniversary (and it's also DH 37th birthday on Dec. 5th). The Poly part is a total surprise-DH thinks we're staying at CBR (which I've heard is nice too).

Anyway, my question is with it being Pop Warner week, would we be better off at another hotel for those 1st 3 days? Unless some great discounts come up, 7 days Poly GVC is too expensive. We could likely afford a moderate (maybe POR). I'd love to hear any suggestions from you Disney pros!!

Thanks!!!

I think I would switch resorts. The resort gets very busy, loud and the foodcourt is a mess. We also didnt care for the kids running up and down the corridor at all hours.

I would switch resorts! We were there during Pop Warner week and stayed at the AKL but didn't see a single one there. However, I heard the Values and even some of the moderates were over run with them. This leads to full busses, busy food courts and pools, lots of noise and the possibility of unsupervised kids running all over the resort.

I would definitely try POR, there might be some there, but probably not too many. Also, there are sometimes some really good rates for the AKL (especially standard view) during that time of the year. I think your kids would love this resort as well. It is absolutely gorgeous. Hope this helps!

For December, I highly recommend Wilderness Lodge. This resort is absolutely magical during the holidays, and like AKL, there are usually better deals here than at the other deluxes. When we get to go back to WDW during December, there's no doubt where we'll be staying - Wilderness Lodge! :D

Pop Warner is a youth football league-cheerleaders too.

Thanks all for your advice!!

I was just looking over AP prices from Dec. LAST YEAR and think that we could afford 4 nights POR (maybe WL or AKL) and the 4 nights at PolyGVC IF the good AP prices are available again this year!

Out of POR, WL, and AKL, which would be best for my 2 DD ages 5 &8?

I would say AKL - where else can you look out a window and see giraffes, zebra and ostrich?

All those resorts have different selling points - you may like WL best for it's proximaty (sp?) to the MK (boat ride away). MK from AKL is a very long ride.

When is Pop Warner?
We were going the first week in December and staying at the Pop Century and I don't want to be there during that time. I could still change my dates.

I think I like the idea of AKL or POR the best-since we'll be at Poly for 4 days, we'll have the monorail for MK (and Epcot?). My dad is giving us tickets to Cirque for Dec. 4th, so POR would be a good choice to take the boat to Downtown Disney...I also think AKL would be great-for the girls to see the animals, etc.

This is our first trip...so many decisions...I've called and changed ressies a handful of times-I hope they can still decipher my real ressies from all of the changed ones!! :) I hope other people are as bad as I am!!:earsgirl:

I'm pretty sure Pop Warner is from Dec. 5-12 (does anyone know the dates for sure?)

I would do AKL if you can afford it, with a second choice of POFQ instead of Riverside. We were there a couple of years ago, staying at POFQ and it was nice and quiet-but the boats to DD were filled with cheerleaders singing Chrstmas carols all the way there. They were picked up at POR before picking us up. Also we went to breakfast at POR one morning and the place was a madhouse. Preteens eveywhere! I was thankful we did not stay there because there weren't any that we saw at FQ. The food court over at POR was completely packed, a family staying there during that time would have been miserable. That year we went 12/5-12/12.

We are staying in the cabins at Fort Wilderness the first 2 weeks in December. I'm hoping the Pop Warner kids think that isn't a 'cool' place to stay? ;) Both my boys played Pop Warner, but I could do without the crowds!

We are going these dates as well and did last year. I saw no cheerleaders at either the Boardwalk or AKL.
However.... a friend from town, Dad is a pop warner coach police officer. Mom is cheer leading coach. Went to ASSP. The exact time we were there. just recently at Baseball practice I asked her how it had gone and she said AWFUL. She said in her experience the food court was too crowded, pools overcrowded, buses crazy! Three nights in a row they called management about kids screaming, running up and down the cat walks, knocking on doors. She actually recieved her last 3 nights comped back to her. Not at the time, But after she came home and wrote a letter. I would definately stay elsewhere. All kids even good kids, get a little crazy in large groups.::yes::

Pop Warner Week is December 5 - 11, 2004.

:duck:

I think I'm going to switch from ASMo to POFQ-we'll be there for 3 nights and the first night we'll have tickets to Cirque-so we can easily take the boat to Downtown Disney that night.

Does anyone know what our chances are for getting an AP rate for POFQ (12/4-12/7) and POLY (12/7-12/11)?
