I'm thinking about taking a 2-3 day visit to DLR 12/2 - 12/4. (Sun - Tues)

The DLR website has DCA hours of 10-9 all three days. DL has hours of 8am-midnight on Sunday, & 9-6 on Monday & Tuesday (I assume due to CM parties). I also assume EE would be available monday & tuesday if i had the priviledge. Also, it looks like the fireworks show will be at 5:45pm mon. & tues. evenings.

Questions:

- How would the crowds be each of those 3 days?

- How would the closing of DL at 6pm affect crowds at DL (during the day) & at DCA (from 6-9pm at night)?

- With a 5:45 firewords show that seems early. Should we do the fireworks on Sun. & do rides between 4:30 - 6 on M/T?

- Anything else wrong with going those days?

Thanks.

Hi Hound! :wave2:

Overall, I think those are pretty great days to go. Sunday afternoon and evening will be the most crowded for you with the crowds of the CP. If you avoid Main Street during the two performances you should be alright, but the parks will be busier that day than a normal Sunday in Dec.

Monday and Tuesday should be pretty light crowd-wise. I have heard that trying to exit DL after the 5:45 pm fireworks can be a pretty scary experience because the CM's are much more serious about getting everyone out of the parks. Do they really keep DCA open to 9 on Monday and Tuesday? If so, I would probably try to plan the fireworks for Sunday evening with the CP crowds, and try to finish up your time at DL on Mon and Tuesday before the 5:45 fireworks begin and head over to DCA to get a jump start on the crowds that might show up after DL closes.

We'll just miss you -- we're leaving on Saturday, the 1st. :santa:

Thanks for all the info DangerMouse. (but i'm confused) Are they booting everyone out of DL for the CM parties, or the Processionals?

(& what is the Processionals? Open for everyone? Worth seeing?)

Thanks.

The Candlelight Processional is a concert on Main Street were they have a famous person (this year it is rumored to be Jane Seymour) narrate the Christmas Story (story of Jesus' birth). They hold four shows total. Two on Saturday the 1st and two on Sunday, the 2nd. I think the times are at approx. 5:30 and 7:30.

Sometimes tickets are made available to the public and they sell out quickly. Last year they offered dinner packages including tickets online around the first or second week of November.

The public is allowed to watch without a ticket for a seat, and many people plant themselves down on Main Street hours ahead of showtime so they can view it. It makes for a super congested area the whole evening.

So, the parks stay open to the regular time on these nights and the public just needs to work around the CP crowds.

It's the CM Christmas party evenings (Mon and Tues) where everyone is escorted out of DL promptly at 6 pm. So, Monday and Tuesday I would get myself out of DL and over to DCA before 5 pm.

Clear as mud? ;)

You need to tell me things 2-3 times before i start getting it. :teacher:
:lmao:

I'm going to save this thread link because I bet others are going to have similar questions on this next month.

So I could avoid the CP by visiting DCA or by already being in the park (say the left side) prior to the CP. (cool :cool2: )

& since monday is EE, we could put a full day in at DL, & have a couple of DCA FPs in my pocket (picked up at noon) prior to bailing DL & going over to DCA at 5:30ish.

This might work out well. :cool1:

(Is getawaytoday offering it's 2 days of EE for a 3 day hopper during that time?)

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yep! They are! :thumbsup2

I'm actually kind of regretting not going the exact time you are. We ALWAYS do our trips Sun-Tues. This time we're going a Wed-Fri (and maybe Sat morning). Sunday mornings are traditionally my very favorite time to be in DL. Plus, you get TWO EE's! We don't get any b/c we are using the gaydays tickets. I'm jealous!

Two days of EE. :cool1:

I also like Sun. - Tues. for several reasons:

- the parks tend to empty out early Sunday evening (at least it has for us).
- The two days EE (or course). :woohoo:
- Driving from the SF valley or Santa Monica can be a bear at times, but on Sunday morning at 6-7:30am the freeways are empty....a great way too begin our 3 day DLR visit.

I will be arriving Tuesday, Dec 4 the same day as the cast party. Since the park opens at 9 will they cancel the EE that day? Will they move it to Wednesday or will it get canceled?? Thanks.

They will still have EE. It will be one hour prior to official park opening, so 8 am.
