Dec.-Artist's Point/WL carriage ride or Cal Grill/monorail to GF ginderbread house?

Choices, Choices

We're planning our December trip and trying to finalize where we want to make our ADR's when our window opens in 2 weeks. I wanted to do something extra special for our last evening including our children.

My dilemma is that it isn't just about the food but the total experience. Since our children would be with us, I want ADRs for 6 pm either at Artist's Point or Cal Grill. My plan would then be to take a holiday carriage ride if we had eaten at AP. (They offer them at WL during December.) If we eat at Cal Grill it will be too early to see the fireworks (9) from the Grill but I thought we could hop on the monorail and see the holiday decorations at the Grand Floridian. WE can't do both and I'm trying to decide which would be the overall best experience for us and last night to boot. If anyone else has done any of these things your advice is appreciated in advance.

By the way the other ADRs I'd like are if anyone has any comments:

Day 1 arrival-dinner (Boma)
Day 2 MK lunch (Tony's), dinner (Raglan Road)
Day 3 MGM lunc (Sci Fi), dinner (Brown Derby Fantasmic Pkg.)
Day 4 AK breakfast (Donald's), dinner (Jiko)
Day 5 Epcot Future lunch (Coral Reef) dinner ? MVMCP
Day 6 Boma breakfast, Epcot World Showcase late lunch (Le Cellier)
Day 7 last full day dinner either Cal Grill or Artist's Point
Day 8 depart

Exactly how large is the Gingerbread House and do they sell any gingerbread?

OOOO! I wish I could help you, but they both sound delightful! Let the kids choose, I guess! I don't think you will go wrong with either choice.

As far as your ADRs...I LOVE Boma and I hope you will, too. I love breakfast and dinner, so enjoy!

We did the HBD FDP last year and enjoyed it so much, we are doing it again this year, so I think that's a winner!

I have never eaten at Tony's, but I have heard too many negative reviews...both on this board and IRL. I would choose CP instead.

The gingerbread house is life size like a cabin and yes they sell gingerbread. You can get a cookie shingle like the ones on the house or edible ornaments or even a small version of the house. It is a wonderful experience!

My vote would be for the gingerbread house - it's in the lobby of the GF for those who asked - and it's incredible. Here are some picture.

I think the carriage ride around WL sounds great. We have stayed at WL and we love it. We have never done the carriage ride but our 2007 trip will be around Christmas and it will be a must do.

Thank you for the photos-the Gingerbread House really does look amazing...and considering that our last night will be 12/21 I'll bet there might even be Carolers there...(sigh)

I really love the WL though too...even though we're staying at AKL this time...I love the atmosphere there and hear that it is fabulously decorated...

Well I'm thinking I might just have to find a way to do both!

you may want to think about skipping the late lunch you have planned on day six and just going back to the lodge and having supper at AP then go for a sleigh ride and on day seven do the dinner at cali grill later say around 8:30 if you think thats not too late to try and time the fireworks so you can see them from the Cali and a later dinner will give you the chance to ride the monarail over to Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house late afternoon. other than that the reservations look great to me have a great time

I would vote for the WL adventure. We love the WL at Christmas. It is just so warm and cozy!! I would be sure to make you reservation for the ride ASAP. They sell out fast and when were were staying at WL Christmas a year ago, we could not get a reservation any night we were there. Artist Point is wonderful. The gingerbread house is pretty but it is open all the time. It would be short monorail ride from the Mk any afternoon for a break form the MK.
As for the MVMCP dinner, we love having dinner at the LTT around 6:00pm on the night of the party. It puts you inside the park at a prime location for the start of the party.AT 7:00, walk over to the presidents hall and be first in line for your free photo.
