Anyone have a general idea how much they are? The AP Hotel calendar only goes up to Oct. I'm working on a "DEAL" . I have the Disney Visa card. I have to pay the lawyer for doing a trust about 4k. If I put that on my Disney Visa that will get me almost 500 pts/ $500. I could basically stay on property 2 days for free if the AP rates are cheap enough. Anyone have a "general ballpark" on the Dec rates? Dec 14 & 15th. That would be so cool never stayed on property before.

thanks
janette

Maybe someone else can step in here and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 4k=$40 in disney rewards $, not $400 or $500. Maybe your card is WAY better than mine, though. LOL.

Well, I logged onto their website and used their calculator thing. I put in 4,000 and it spit out $480. I assume it's correct. I hope it is anyway.

The December rates won't show on the calendar until September. If this year is anything like last year, there may possibly be some good rates in the first two weeks of December, but as soon as mid-December hits, the rates start to climb. Last year, despite the good rates, there was surprising availability at all 3 hotels in December, all the way up to Christmas, whereas in previous years they were all booked up in December. This year, who knows? Actually the current October AP rates that are showing are most likely going to drop a bit at some point too, but maybe not for another few weeks.:confused3

The calculator seems to be faulty. On that page is says you earn 1% of your purchases/spending on your Disney Visa card. So 1% of $4000 is $40.

Well I just got a Disney Visa thing in the mail. It says that for every $100 dollars spent, you get 1 dollar. So that would mean that the OP would get $400 dollars. :cool1:

No, there are 40 100's in 4000. So, she would get 40 points, not 400. You could always call to verify. 1% of 4000 is 40. Op would get 40 Disney Dollars.

Good grief!! You are right!! I should have done my math, before I posted.

Geesh.................you have to spend big bucks to make it worthwhile don't you? Not hardly worth the pain of changing cards. :headache:

That's ok, I used the calculator and double checked with DH before posting, just in case:thumbsup2

I don't know, IMO it's worth it. We are going in August and November and each time we are taking over $200 in "free" disney cash. Yes you have to spend a lot, but I charge absolutely everything I can, including some bills and pay it off every month. For us it's worth it. That $200 will pay for most of our food in the park.

Indeed ... the Disney Visa reward points are at 1%. We used $358 points during our last trip. Not the best reward plan, but nevertheless, it's something!

The calculator on the site is for monthly expenses, and then at the bottom, it shows how many rewards dollars you would get over the course of a year. It's a bit confusing, but if you put $4000 in, it thinks you are going to spend $4000 a month for a year. So, that would be $40 in reward dollars, times 12, giving you the $480.

That is absolutely correct, Rowlf.
I manage to get enough to pay for my AP each year and maybe a dinner. That's about it, but this year they are running the 3X and 5X points promotions. You get 3 or 5 times more points for amounts charged over $750 a month for specific items (like gas, groceries, travel). The first time I got an extra $52! It does add up and I feel like I get free stuff, so what the hay!;)

This is correct. I was mistaken, well the calculator made it confusing. If I spend 4,000 a MONTH then it would be correct at the end of the year, but a 1 time 4k charge gets me about 48 points. Oh well it's better than nothing.

Linda, do they tell you what the promotions are ahead of time?

Unfortunately, they don't specify when you will be eligible for the promo.....

In fact, I think their promo's vary from family to family. In our case, we just finished a 5X points on anything over $500 that lasted for 3 months. Before that it was 5X over $750 for 3 months......who knows how they choose who gets what.....:confused3

I have had my card for almost three years and have never received an offer that gives me more than 1%. How do you find out about these? Does it show up on your statement or your account when you login?

I got something in the mail to enter a code and register your card. Then you can get double or triple points on selected purchases. Gas was one I remember. I LOST my card before I could enter it, so I'm just going to call and ask. I just got it about a week ago.

I just called Chase and ours is 5x on gas, groceries airline tickets dining over $250.00 Problem is, I called the # they gave me and its the wrong #. Anyone have the correct #? The lady gave me the code.

Not to get too terribly far off topic, but just a reminder that if you are trying to earn the rewards with the Visa card you should definitely look into putting all of your household bills onto the card automatically. Your cable bill, cell phone bill, and even many utility bills can set up autopay to your credit card rather than your bank account.

As long as you have the discipline to pay the amount charged to the card each month just as you have paid with a check, it can add up surprisingly fast. On our cash back card last year (not a Disney Visa) we earned a $1,200 rebate, which went a long way toward our Disneyland vacation! All from regular household expenses charged to the card -- if you regularly travel for work and get reimbursed it can really start to add up!

They send a postcard type thing that opens up.
The 3X offer was last fall and I got 3X points for amounts over $500 a month. So, if I spent $1,000 one month, I got $5 for the first $500 and $15 for the next $500. It includes purchases for dining/gas/groceries/airlines. Again, they tally all three months and give you one lump sum "bonus" dollar amount. Like I said, I got $52 and thought that was great. The 5X promo just ended for me - it was April/May/June, so I will get those points probably on my next statement. I just read my 5X offer card again, it is over $1,000 each month, not $750, pooey, it won't be as much as I thought, but still worth it. When you enter the code on the website to enroll it pops up with my name and the last four digits of my card, so I think the ones mailed out are individual specific. It's funny, none of us know how Disney selects who gets these promotion offers, just like the hotel discount pin codes people get (that I have never got and stay on site all the time:confused3). Go figure!
