Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Hi George,

When I was in USVI in 2006, I did not see anything so I looked on tripadvisor.com. The way it looks, St. Thomas does not have anything, but there is one place offering horseback riding.

http://www.e-vacationrentals.com/st_thomas/horseback_riding.htm

I did not find much in St. Croix at all. There is also the Cruzan Rum factory tour (which I found boring and not a place I'd take my younger kids to).

I notice that the St. Croix leg we're on is the last one on the DCL schedule that I can see. I'm wondering if it's not panning out as well received as DCL would have liked....

Hope that helps.

Hi Georege,
I can't help you with the horse back riding. Of course, as you kow there will be plenty of kids your boys' ages onboard.

DD says to tell your younger son she is 12 so she'll probably see him around in the quest.

Hi Sean--my DD is Marika (I am Hadley:upsidedow). Marika tried all day to log onto the DIS to answer you but the board was down. She just left for school and is looking forward to posting her answers and asking you some questions when she gets home this afternoon. She wanted me to post this so you wouldn't think she is ignoring you--we weren't sure if the DIS was down everywhere or if it was something caused by us connecting from Europe:confused3

mine was down to and i was checking every hour on the hour :surfweb: to see if it was back up cant wait to talk to DD thank you for telling me

sean:woohoo:

Hi Sean,

I'm Marika (DD is short for Disney daughter.).
Sorry. I could not post before (The DIS was down) and I just got home from school today (if it seems like I have a really weird school schedule remember the time difference between Germany and the East Coast). Yes I defiently think we will have fun. Here are the answers to your questions:

1. We have late seating.

2. We live near Heidlburg.

3. I love karate and reading.

4. I do not have a specific favorite color. I like different shades of colors such as lime green looks much prettier than camaflouge green.

5. I have dark brown hair. Here is a picture of me with some of my karate teachers when I got my Black Belt:
DSCN1104.jpg

(Sorry it is so big I do not know how to make it smaller.)

6. I also love Greek mythology.

I am also curious about you so here are some questions I have for you:

1. Have you ever been to Disney before?

2. Have you ever sailed before?

3. If yes to the last one have you ever sailed Disney before?

4. Do you like sports?

5. Do you like to read?

6. What do you like to do?

From,
Marika :rose:(Rose is my middle name)

1. yes ( 2 times, but not recently)

2. yes

3. yes (4 Night Bahamas cruise and two 7 night western Caribbean cruises on Disney's Magic and Wonder)

4. yes (soccer, BMX, and Motocross)

5. yes especially about greek mythology and Percy Jackson.

6. Ride my bike, play with friends, play soccer, swim, and read stuff on this site:):upsidedow

Hi! What is your favorite ship the Magic or the Wonder? My favorite types of books are sci-fi and mystery. Have you ever been on any cruise lines over than Disney. I have been on Princess three times and on Carnival once (we did not like Carnival.). Did you know Disney is building two new ships? They will be called Disney Dreams and Disney Fantasy. What is your favorite school subject:teacher:? Do you like robots? Do you like legos? Do you like lego mindstorms? Are you going to get dressed for pirate nightpirate:. Do you like art:artist:? Do you agree that Castaway Cay is paradise:beach:? Sorry for all the questions you do not have to answer them all and do not feel you cannot ask me more questions.

Perhaps you kids could use the PM function to chat?

Perhaps you kids could use the PM function to chat?

This is Hadley. Sorry, I figured since none of the adults were really chatting at all I could let the kids go at it and then they might get the rest of us started. This IS the slowest moving meet thread I have ever encoutnered (kind of good for me--less to keep up with, but. . .). Didn't mean to infringe:confused3 In the begining Sean's dad's account did not even have enough posts to be able to PM--I will see if he does now.

Okay, I ahve started a Dec. 5, 2009 kids' thread for Sean, Marika and any other kids who want to join in. Again, I am sorry to have bothered everyone--I had no idea that the kids' talking would bother anyone--all the other threads I have been on always have lots of people chatting back and forth, sharing about their days nad lives, etc. I miss htat on this thread and was happy to see at least the kids getting involved. Anyway kids, here is the link to the new thread:

Hi Hadley,

We know it's all in fun. Personally I felt a little like a peeping tom reading what appeared to be more private talk.

I think it's great that everyone we've talked to so far is excited about the upcoming trip. Less than 8 1/2 months to go to our departure and this big kid can't wait already!

As I mentioned before, my 75 yr old mom is coming along. She asked on Sunday if there were any casinos on board. After looking over the Disney Cruise website, I can't find any. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Never been on a Disney Cruise but I do know that there are no casinos on board. I've watched the Disney Cruise special enough to have just about the whole thing memorized and they specifically mention no casinos on board. DS is always asking to watch the Mickey Mouse Boat Show and I won't argue.

This big kid is ready too! The kids and I will be adding a week at WDW on before or after the cruise and we just can't wait. DH unfortunately won't be able to join us at the parks but is looking forward to the cruise because he says that he will actually be able to relax on this vacation, something that's hard to do at WDW.

Exactly.

p.s. There are definitely no casinos on Disney ships.

As others have said--no casinos. The only gambling type activity on baord is BINGO. I ahve never been, but I hear many people really have fun at it.

We are spending the week before at WDW with my best friend:goodvibes My advice is to go the week before if possible for 2 reasons:
1. WDW is exhausting and it is great to then relax and unwind for a week afterwards.
2. (Big one for me) if I am arriving an entire week before sail date in Orlando then I do not stress about missing the ship due to weather dealys, etc. (once ina great while weather delays can be longer than even the one day minimuim window I feel comfprtable with arriving in:eek:)

So, to get us ALL chatting a bit about ourselves, may I suggest we do something I have done on some of my other meet threads and havea Question of the Week? Here is a really simple one to get us all started:

Who is your favourite Disney character?

Our answers are:
Me--Mary Poppins
DH (Dave)--Milo Thatch
DD (Marika)--Belle
DS (Rio)--Peter Pan, Mickey Mouse and Jim Hawkins

(Favourite spelled the Canadian way eh)

Ok I'll bite

Hmmm, well, opinions and favourites change as time goes on for some of us but here is our list
Dad (Barry) - Jack Sparrow or Donald
Mom (Christine) - Goofy
Erik (DS-8) - Jack Sparrow
Holly (DD-6) - Cinderella or Belle
Peter (DS-2) - Whoever is the most entertaining at the time.

:lmao:I grew up reading lots of British books (and Canadian--gotta love L.M. Montgomery). I can still remember being STUNNED when one of my jr. high teachers pointed out to me that i used "British" spellings for many words. I had no idea there was a difference based on country--I just thought both spellings were acceptable and I used what I saw the most:rotfl2:By then the "Brit" (or Canandian) was pretty well sruck in my head so I never botehred to switch (I am a terrible speller--if I got one version right that is good:rotfl:).

Picking just one (or two or 10) favourite is always tough--you can change your answers at any time:rolleyes1 I am curious is it Barry or Christine who posts?

Dad's the one who spends his days on the computer. Christine's the one who stays home so she's mowing the lawn, cooking dinner, dressing the kids, putting them to bed, laundry, shopping, etc.
Yes, I think she has the easier job. ;)

Actually, I do work too, and, also I cook, clean, pay the bills and put the kids to bed (and bring them to school). I'm phasing the lawn mowing to DS (8) this summer. Just having some fun.
