Ok, so my best friend just decided to bring her family(5 people) to WDW Dec 2-7. She's going to MVMCP on Dec 4. I've called and asked for any table service place in MK and at the MK resorts.

Earliest ADR is 8:30pm at Kona Cafe. Not really a good time if you're doing the party.

My family is going to be at MVMCP on Dec 4 and I of course made my ADR months ago. I've never tried to make an ADR this close.

So I have 3 questions:

1. Is there ANY realistic prayer that something earlier will open up at TS restaurant in the MK area?

2. How possible is it that any of these places will be taking walkups on a MVMCP night? I've read that some places take no walkups on any given night.

3. Has anyone walked up to a TS restaurant on an MVMCP night and gotten in?

The sucky part of this is that she booked the DDP...she literally booked this vacation yesterday (11/16)...she'll probably be stuck eating lunch at 2pm and dinner at 9pm, which with 3 little kids, probably not the most do-able thing.

I appreciate any info/experiences you can share!

Thanks!

Just keep calling places (or tell your friend to) because someone could cancel at any time! That's how we got our Le Cellier dinner instead of lunch--I just kept calling back. I don't think there would be a prayer of doing a walk up anywhere on MVMCP night that was in or near MK. If I were her, I would just plan on being at MK by 4:30 that evening, and eat CS that night before the party begins. Hopefully they can use their TS on another night; if they skip TS on the 4th, then they would have an extra and could do a signature restaurant one of the other nights--sometimes they're easier to get into. And they are kid friendly--we took DD6 to Narcoossee's with no problem.

Tell her good luck from us!

Because she is going so soon, I would encourage her to have her TS midday and CS for dinner. She will be much more likely to be able to get things that way.

As to dinner at MVMCP night, good luck, but seems unlikely. Keep trying, cancellations fo happen, but people going to MVMCP mae their ADR's months ago when you did.:headache:

I figured the chances were pretty grim...I was hoping that someone could report that they had has success at some point on a party night.

I told her that TS at lunch and CS at dinner were probably going to be her best bet.

It's just at this late stage of the game there's nothing left hardly at all. It's a bit of a pain when they have the DDP and the timeslots that would work for her family are pretty much gone.

She hasn't made any other ADRs yet...I got her one at Garden Grill for lunch on a separate day just because it was the only one they had that was earlier than 2:20pm.

She and her DH are going to sit down and talk tonight about which parks which days, but I have a feeling that it's going to be so hard to try and get anything reserved.

Don't overlook Wilderness Lodge (Whispering Canyon and Artist Point), since it's just a boat ride from MK. Not that I think there will be openings, but it's another place to check.

Last year we ate at Tony's before MVMCP. We had a 5:30 ADR but showed up at 5:00 and were seated immediately. It may have been a different story if we didn't have ADRs, but if you're doing the early CS thing, it's worth a try to ask at Tony's and maybe the Plaza Restaurant. The others are so popular it's not even worth asking. I like Columbia Harbor House for CS. Good food and somewhat out of the way.

erikthewise--

I did check WL...unfortunately, no dice.

We love Columbia Harbor House, too! But according to the MVMCP map, it's not open on party nights. Not that they can't get food somewhere else...

I think the key is having an ADR *somewhere* that night and maybe seeing if they can get in early.

Right now, they have a lunch ADR and can do CS at MK. Hopefully, a little magic can be at work for them...

I was going to suggest WL, but I see that didn't work for you. Did you try Trails End at Fort Wilderness? Good luck to her.

I just canceled a ressie for 2 at Artist's point at 5:45 on Dec 4...
