We will be going to IOA Dec 27, to US dec 29 and because of the buy 2 get one free we will be able to spend part of the day at either one on Dec 30(our flight doesnt leave until 7pm). We know it is going to be very crowded but my husband won this trip through a contest at work and since I don't like to take our kids out of school this is the only time we can go (it has to be used by feb). We won't be staying on site because the hotel that is part of the package is Renaissance Seaworld. We also will not spend the money on express passes as this "free" trip is already costing us enough and since we weren't really expecting to go this year we don't have much money for the trip. We haven't been to US for 15 years and our two sons who are coming with have never been and none of us has ever been to IOA. The two times in the past we did go to US we never really cared for it for some reason but we are going in with the attitude that we are going to do what we can and enjoy it and not worry about what we can't. Every time we have ever been to WDW it has been over fourth of July week and we still were able to do what we wanted so we aren't afraid of it being busy.
What does concern me is the fact that I now have a disability and can't walk very much. I plan to rent an ecv though and should be ok in the parks. How far is it from the parking garage to the entrance to the park? The other concern is our 10 yr old son. He has many issues going on including intellectual disabilities and anxiety. He sometimes has meltdowns and I am afraid he might have one in line if we have to wait too long. If he has a meltdown is it possible for one of us to get out of line with him until he calms down? I am afraid his anxiety may kick in if he has too much time waiting for rides he isn't sure about and it won't be pleasant for people around us. He has never been to any place like this. He wasn't with us the last time we went to wdw so there is nothing to even try to explain it to him.
I guess I am just looking for ways to make the best out of our unexpected vacation without causing too much stress for any of us. We won't be doing roller coasters because our 16 yr old is a big chicken on rides and as it is we will probably have to force him on any rides we go on. At IOA they do want to go on spiderman, the water rides, and the Suess rides. We want to walk through Harry Potter but I don't think they will go on forbidden journey and I won't be able to. At US the main thing we want to do is see Spongebob. Our 10 yr old loves Spongebob and will go nuts to see him. He doesn't know that spongebob will be there because he would drive us nuts if he knew so I am hoping to keep it from him until then. We do plan to go on rides there and watch the parades but as long as he sees spongebob our day there will be a success. Is there anywhere in the parks that we can go to just have a little quiet if needed?

Definitely go to guest services and as for the Guest Assisstance Pass... It is a return time express pass (kind of like disney's fastpass), designed for guests with disabilities. At each attraction the attendant at the front will fill out the pass with a return time that is 15 minutes less than the actual wait. So say the line is an hour, you come back in 45 minutes and you get right on. Just be aware that you can only receive one return time at a time. This will work on all attractions and shows and is totally free.

To get a guest assistance pass do you need to bring a note or something from doctor? That sounds like it would be good if he was having a problem waiting.
