Dec 18, 2011 - Disney Dream

We will be at the parks for 3 days prior to the cruise. Does anyone know if we can pool hop between the resorts? We are staying at PO but wanted to check out some of the better pools.

Hi All!

I will be taking my first ever cruise with my DFi on 12.18.2011 and so excited about the DREAM -- (and just joining this blog)! We're curious if any other couples traveling without kids might be interested in going in together on a Castaway Cay Cabana? We are 35 and 37 respectively -- friendly, laid back, (one is a classical musician, the other in IT).

In any case -- greetings, everyone! Very excited about this new experience with DCL after being frequent visitors to WDW and DL for many years!

Happy Holidays a few months early for what should be a great pre-Christmas Cruise!

Welcome aboard.
While we will not see much of her while on Castaway Cay, we will have DD 17 with us or we would love to get a cabana.
DD (Katie) is a cello player while DW (Laura) works for a major tech. company but in marketing.

Welcome, adding you to the list. Which instrument?

Hello Everyone ~
We will be joining this cruise for our very first cruise and we can't wait. We are coming from Eagle River, Alaska and look forward to having some sunshine and warmth in the middle of winter. My DH Mike, DD Megan (15), DS Tyler (12) and myself are being joined by my sister and my parents. It will be everyone's first time on a cruise and a Disney Cruise is the only way to go. We haven't decided on any excursions or how we want to allow the kids to explore the ship on their own but we have some time. Any suggestions are welcomed and we can't wait to sail.

Welcome!

The Stewarts in my group will be moving to Alaska soon after our cruise to be traveling nurses! They have a daughter, Callie, that is close in age to Megan.

We haven't planned excursions. I don't think we will have enough time on the new ship...smile! I just had a client that went on a 5 night on this ship and they booked a room for the day at the hotel that shares pools with Atlantis to be able to play there for the day - but I think we plan on doing the AquaDuck when fewer people are on the ship! Last year at this time we rented bikes at Castaway Cay and it was perfect weather for it! We will probably do that again. Our trip gets more active when we get back and spend a week at Disney World.

Yay! More 1st time cruisers. Some family members just came back from the Dream and said it was amazing. I can't wait! We aren't doing excursions because it's our 1st cruise and we really want to spend as much time as possible getting to know the dream. The girls are going to lose it when they see the ship. This secret is driving me bonkers!

We aren't planning any excursions either, just enjoying ourselves on the boat. If the kids were older, I'd probably get a room at Comfort Inn or Atlantis for the day but they'll be too short for most of the slides anyway so a few hundred bucks saved (this trip :rotfl:) is how I'm looking at it!

I hope we can still go on this cruise as my mom has been diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer (she had breast cancer 3.5 years ago too) so I'm not sure what will happen. I need to explore my options with cancellation insurance as I haven't added any insurance yet as our paid in full deadline is in October. If anyone has any ideas about insurance, let me know. I am in Canada.

I'm so happy! I went to the insurance store and they are fantastic. They research all the insurance companies and find out what works for you. Super nice folks. Anyway, CSA does cover pre-existing conditions as long as you book it within 24 hours of your final payment, so I'm not going to cancel unless I need to. It'll cost about $300 for the insurance, but hey, its worth the piece of mind.

So back to planning and praying my mom will recover and its all moot:)

Got off the Alaska cruise on July 19 and had such a fun time. Can't wait to try the Dream.

:yay: Glad you found good insurance coverage and have a piece of mind. Hopefully you won't need it.

I guess I'll go ahead and join our cruise thread! With school starting in a week, I'll need something to look forward to! :rotfl2:

We have 7 in our cruise party. DH and I have cruised with DCL 3 times in the past (on the Wonder and Magic, very excited to go on the Dream). It will be the first cruise ever for my mom, dad, brother, niece (who will be 9 when we cruise) and nephew (7).

All of us live in FL except my parents. We are going to spend time in the parks Saturday, ending the day with dinner at California Grill. DH and I had our wedding reception there and my dad has been wanting to go back since then. Very excited about our dinner! Then we're driving over to Port Canaveral Sunday morning.

DH and I booked this cruise when we were on the Wonder last April. It's such a good feeling to see my countdown timer is under no longer over a year, lol!

Hi everyone! :wave2: Just checking in to see how everyone's summer is going. With school starting here next week, it makes me realize how fast time is moving. The cruise will be here before we know it. :yay: My girls, and mommy too, are getting excited. We have been talking about what to wear to dinner for pirate: night and the optional dress-up night. I would like to get some good photos for our christmas cards. :santa:

My parents would like to do a tour in Nassau, but we have not decided which one yet. We are looking at the See & Sea Island Tour or the Ardastra Gardens & City tour. Both are only a few hours and will let us see something new and still enjoy the quite on the ship.

I was also thinking I should start making my FE gifts if we are going to do the exchange. With school, activities, and work, my time before the cruise is limited. I have attempted to put a list of cruisers interested in doing an exchange together, but since this will be our first cruise I am unsure of what else is involved. Okay, so after some research, I have started a new thread to keep better track of the FE exchange. Please use the following link if you would like to be added to the list. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=42179048#post42179048

Magan, I added you to the list.

Irene,
I have started a new thread for the FE exchange. Will you please post the link on the first page? I have also requested to have it added to the cruise meet list.

Thanks,

Adding. Not sure if I'll have time to pack/create FE/distribute so you can remove me. Things are super hectic here, I barely even have time to log on here! :upsidedow

Hello Everyone ~
We will be joining this cruise as well and we can't wait. We are coming from Cape York in Australia and thought we would try a cruise before heading north for a white christmas (never happens in tropical Queensland). My DH Jon, DS Joshua (8) and DD Caitlin (7) and myself are being joined by my sister and my parents. We went on an Alaskan cruise with Disney earlier this year and loved it. Cant wait to be back cruising
