Dec 15 incentives ending, what’s next

They will come up with another incentive. Expect it to be essentially the same as the existing one.

After 12/15, the current winter incentives end 3/2. Maybe they will pick another 2042 to replace the current BWV promotion - my money is on BRV since it’s up for a refurb next year.

Yeah, that part is pretty significant for anyone buying direct. Incentives don't change on December 15th, like roll to a new package, they just have a portion of the current dual incentive that expires. Right now for RIV for example, they have $2/$5/$7/etc Additional Incetive, and they have the $500 Pre Arrival Additional Credit.

I think December 15th all you will see is the Additional Credit drop off, and maybe the Pre Arrival. The Incentive Per Point Credit should remain until March, at which point who knows. That's a pretty long run I feel like? It kind of seemed like these were changing every 2-3 months, but this will be a 5 month wind down. Makes me wonder if they expect RIV to drop off the main incentive train. Then again, I haven't watched incentives that closely, could just feel oddly long to me.

Sales are not exactly gangbusters and that’s with strong incentives. Can Disney afford to go months without strong incentives to drive sales?

im thinking gfv sales start March but something needs to slot in until then

If I remember correctly, a good percentage of people buying into DVC are spontaneous...as they walk the Parks into a DVC Guide. That said, their initial shock of $201 per point with [whatever] discount may already be music to their ears. Sales may not be as good, but it'll be "good enough."

What's next could include a price hike per point. I think the last one was in February 2021 when it went from $195 to $201.

Not to hijack this thread, but what’s the pre-arrival credit? I’ve not seen that mentioned on DVC’s website.

If they are planning a base price hike for current resorts it will likely coincide with the re-launch of VGF sales. Perhaps a short time for current members at current pricing then the bump.

Sorry for the delay. The way our guide explained it, it is a credit if you have a planned Disney trip already. We have been eyeing DVC for a couple years, and had a cash stay booked at Beachclub (non villas) for February.

Our guide said that reservation was worth $500 due to the pre-arrival credit. We just had to keep our Feb cash booking in place until we signed our DVC documents. Our Welcome Home stay won't be at Riviera, but they were able to get us into a 1BR at Boardwalk during our same Feb trip, so I just canceled the Disney reservation once the DVC paperwork was done, and got our money back.

As long as you are booked direct with Disney and your trip is at least 30 days out, you can get a full refund easily.

I suspect... you could make a booking for March through Disney for a cash resort and then just give the confirmation info to your guide and get the $500. That is maybe moral gray area, neither I nor disboards endorse anything one way or another, haha, but $500 is $500.

Yeah, but that sounds too easy. As far as DVC workarounds go, that's third grade stuff. Usually, you need a PhD in math, and at least a Master's in chicanery to get one over on the Disney bean counters

Just wear a fake mustache and glasses when you make the reservation.

DVC paid our hotel stay in 1996 when we bought OKW. We had no idea and it was a pleasant surprise along with no closing costs and double points with no MF's on one year. Oh, and ice cream which sealed the deal...and it was $62 PP! :tink:

With the calendar at almost 19 years 11 months for 2042 resorts DVC will have to pile on the deals to convince a buyer 2042 is a great deal direct. BWV was a test run IMO...we shall see!

Ha! I often ask myself…when attending the DVC Resort Annual Condo meetings…How can any original OKW complain about anything about their membership.
On the other hand, I respect everything this group of loyal members stand up for. They have walked the walk andhave helped to keep it great. Just hope they are more optimistic when they return for next years meeting since many members got up & walked out before the meeting was officially ended this year.
