So we have planned our trip for this coming Dec my issue is this it starts out that it is just the wife and I the 4 kids will be staying home this trip and I still want to drive. The wife wants to fly if we can get cheap flights and I am in charge of this aspect of the trip should I tell a little white lie and say I couldn't find cheap flights to satisfy my need to drive or should I actually look for cheap flights as she has asked?

Try and find the cheap flights ... either out of Buffalo, Detroit, or possibly Flint. It's just the 2 of you ... no need to drive. Get on a plane, and enjoy your time there. And if see cheap flights, I might just have to give your DW a call and let her know. ;)

We debated over driving/flying for our aug trip -- had pretty much decided on driving, when I got $27 flight pp on Airtran - non-stop. Couldn't resist. Now I still have no way to get home :lmao: ... but that's a challenge for another day. :rolleyes1

We got $54 flights on SWA for Dec 2005 and 2006.

Good Luck!

Depends on how long you have been married:rotfl: With four kids I would say it has been quite some time and you are treading on very dangerous ice as she can see right through you!:lmao:

This is our early 10th anniversary trip and she can no sooner see through me now just like she couldn't before LOL. Maryliz thanks for the help LOL you should e mail her oh right she never looks at the e mail I do LOL..... Well it looks like I may just say to heck with it and drive anyhow I just can't stand the thought of going to Florida and not driving down it just wouldn't be the same.

Shake It Up A Little!

Pretend that you are driving and then surprise her! FLY!

I just got back from the 2nd trip in 2 years driving.

This one cured me. All future WDW trips will be flying only. And I don't have kids and I LOVE driving. Plus we had a brand new Chevy Impala with satellite radio, leather seats and the works.

Still.. I'm cured of that driving need.

PS> Don't ask me about Connecticut's Finest. They're on my black list. :scared:

Let's just say for the price of that ticket + a tiny bit more. I could have flown...

And this time the LONG drive and the tedium of it really got to me.

But mostly it was Connecticut that got to me.

Well.........telling even a little white lie is definitely not something you should be doing with your spouse. :confused3

Why spend time driving when you can fly and spend those extra days really enjoying your vacation? That is my thought anyway. Also....why not shake it up a little and not do the same thing you have always done? Wouldn't it be nice to land at the airport, have magical express pick you up, your Disney magic starts right there! :)

The driving is so much more horrendous with the longer transport trucks on the road.I wont drive anymore,it just isn't worth the hassle. For a vacation =drive, for a holiday =fly.

I would fly on this trip, I would not lie to my spouse and say there was no deals to be found. If you have never flown how do you know that you will not like it more? You are used to driving but this may be something that you will enjoy just as much. Try it once for your wife and have an open mind.
just my 2 cents!

I think that, that little bit of extra thoughfulness for your wife wishes would be a great little anniversary gift for her. I know that we have 3 kids and would love to optimize the amount of time that we have in Florida. You would still get the drive to the airport ;) and you could always rent a car once in Florida to do a bit of touring around outside the world, then you get to do a bit more driving ;) I think you could guess that I think it would be unwise to tell that little white lie.

And I didn't notice where you lived, but there are always cheap flights, (when you are thorough) and we fly out of Detroit.

I hope that you guys can come to some sort of compromise.

Definitely fly! We took an adults-only trip in December (have 4 kids also) and it only cost us $300 round-trip to fly. It gave us more time to enjoy the parks and let us get home to our kids quicker (after 4 days, I was anxious to see them). So, as an anniversary present to your wife, I say buy the airline tickets!

Well it is settled we are driving I decided today and called her at work to let her know she still would like to fly but I chose driving and she can live with it she says. Plus we both love the drive and it is actually one of the parts we look foreward to each and every trip that is truly when our trip starts is the minute we get in teh car to go.

We have flown we flew on our honeymoon and in 99 I enjoy flying just not to Disney I much prefer the drive.

So, F4disneyfan... you got your way over the driving, so what did you have to give up in the negotiations? Do tell! (Other people's marital politics are so much more fun than my own....)
