Debt Management programs

Anyone here ever use a debt management/counseling service? Dh and I are considering doing this. We've had some financial problems that have caused us to over extend ourselves and we now find ourselves late on many payments. I've been looking into a few companies...particularlly Care One Credit Counseling...anyone have any advice?

A friend of mine went through debt management and was very happy with the results. I think the one she used didn't have a specific fee you paid, it was what you wanted to pay for the service. I know that some banks offer this as a service. You may want to check your local bank.

I would definitely do a lot of research before signing with anyone. Although I don't know first hand, I have heard of a lot of negative things that this can do to your credit report. I would suggest checking out this site first:

DH and I are preparing ourselves for buying a house and the information found there has been extremely helpful.
