It is SO time to yell like a pirate!! AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!! Found out around 2:00 am that DH's debit card number has been stolen! They have withdrawn $974.00, in the last 11 days, at gas stations that are between 80 & 260 miles away!

Since it's the middle of the night, the first thing I did was transfer all our money out of checking and into savings so they can't access it. It took me 2 hours to find the "report lost card" number, buried in our bank's web site, so I just cancelled the card.

I guess I just need to vent and hopefully get some words of encouragement that we will get our money back! Thanks!!!

I feel your pain. I have had my number stolen twice.:sad2: We never had a problem with the bank. Hopefully this will work out the same for you.

I hope that you recover everything. It is a very scary situation to be in, but hopefully they catch the people doing this. You have done everything you can on your end, just follow-up with your bank and document everything.

There is a special place in hell for scum thieves that do this to people:mad:

I can’t imagine how violated and angry you feel right now:hug:

Sounds like someone physically copied your card when you used it locally.Have you gone to a restaurant lately or had someone pump your gas?

Mine was stolen during one of the big hacking breaches of TJX. They used my card to buy calling cards and off all things they had contacts shipped to them in Canada. In the end we were liable for nothing, just a pain to go through the process of reporting it.

My son had the same thing happen and when he realized it was about 3 months later what they did was take tiny amounts like 1 cent and then 25 cents and being an idiot who never checked his statement he did not find out until it was too late and the big amounts were showing. His occured on an internet sight. The woman at the bank told him that they "test" the waters to see if you notice and then they go in for the kill after a few months. Luckily he got all of his 650.00 back. Being a college student that was a months wages! HOPEFULLY he learned his lesson but then again last night his phone was stolen. He has also had his bank account comprmised not two weeks after he had it.

It HAD to be someone at the bank because he had written only ONE check and it was to me for college expenses so in effect it was like a transfer of money since I had the same bank.

YOu right there should be a special place in hell for these people, right next to the contractors who never show up to finish a job!

AHH TJX... it happend to my sister too. EVERY time I go to a TJX store I laugh when they ask if I want a credit card from them! Jeeze Louise they KNEW it happend long before it was publicized when one over zealous employee tried to get me to sign up I said NO WAY and she said that they have one of the best security systems now. I said that does NOT make up for not informing the public of the breach until long after they knew about it. She and nothing to say then.

I had it happen in last fall. We had been in Toronto for the Labour Day weekend and I used my debit card one time, after going through security when we were heading home (so it was stolen in the "secure" area of the airport) 3 weeks later the bank called me and said that they had frozen my account because there was a $500 withdrawl in Ontario and they knew it wasn't me because I had just used my card here. They refunded my money the next day but it was a pain to have to go get a new bank card, change my pin, etc....
