Debating AP renewal

Renewal now or new AP later?

  • Renew now for $46.00 discount and June exp?

  • Get new AP in August with August 2012 exp date?

  • Skip getting an AP altogether.

Hi all,

I'm debating my AP renewal. I have to decide in the next few days, or the renewal discount will be gone.

The discount is $46.00 if I renew now, with an expiration date of June 2012. There still might be a discount for my travel dates in August. :)

So would you renew now and save the $46.00, or spend the extra $46.00 but have a later expiration date of August 21st 2012?

TIA!

I'm in the same boat. My current AP expires Oct 9th. I currently have trips planned for Sept 10th-18th and Nov 26th-Dec 4th. I'm undecided whether to renew it by Oct 9th or wait and just get a new AP when I go in Nov. My problem is that I also have an old one day ticket I can turn in, if I wait until Nov.:confused3 I think I'm waiting until Nov to just get a new one.

From what I have read on the tickets sticky on the theme park boards you can use the one day to renew too. I just read it the other day and it was news to me. It's part of the FAQ section G.

The discount is based on the cost of the AP divided by 12 times 11. Or, one month free. So really, if you aren't using that AP in the first 30 days, and you might you use it later (after the original renewal date), it's better to wait to renew. If you have several trips planned between the original dates of the AP and none after, it can be a coin toss to get the discount rate.

When in your situation, I always go for the later date though, because I might add a trip later, but usually I won't add within that 30 day window--it's so close I know for certain at that time.

If you have any tickets, whether purchasing new or renewing, you can apply that ticket towards either the renewal or the new purchase. Just be sure to use the old ticket first to get current gate value/maximum amount to credit towards the new purchase. We ALWAYS purchase discount tickets, use them, and upgrade/renew APs.
