So someone got their way and the DB has been closed to new posts what a waste the message states it didn't have Disney contenet on it I say yes it did and if they want to close that board due to lack of Disney content then they had best close this one for the same reason. Yes there is Disney content on here and there was on the other one to what a joke IMHO.

the reason the debate board was creatd four years ago was because people didn't want ot read a lot of political discourse on the CB during the Bush-Gore election debacle.

I can't help but wonder what will happen to this board in the next few months.

WHAT?!?!?! While I never actually posted there I did check in from time to time and found it quite entertaining and informative, especially about many of the posters who participated on a regular basis.

Debates are likely to start up again on the CB. Isn't that one of the reasons the DB was created in the first place? To keep it off the CB and have an outlet for those who enjoy that sort of thing.

Oh well, I for one will miss it.

I am sure this will become the home of the debates now Disney or otherwise I recall a few posts closed or moved from here to the DB so now where will they send them. Again a big mistake in my opinion hopefully they see the err in this and re open it.

I am cornfuzzled now.

I just joined the Disboard in May and found myself drawn to the debate board. I was both entertained by 99 % of the posters. I was amazed by the other 1% who used the Debate Board for political and religious debates.
I think my problem came from the impression I had that the Disboard was completely related to Disney. And the Debate Board would simply have debates about things as mundane as the hamburger/cheeseburger thread! HA HA!

I am disappointed that the moderators couldn't have guidleines restricting debate threads to Disney-related issues. I was also disappointed that a few of the wacko elements were allowed to continue to post replies that were centered on irritating others. How do you do that? I have no idea what standards could be applied without causing problems. Tough job for Alex and the moderators. I sympathize with you guys but am still going to miss the debate board.

I hope those of us that were centered on the debate board can make a peaceful change to the Community Board and the CB fans can accept us! HA HA!

Bobbles like it said posts are to be Disney related well that doens't ring true for over 3/4 of the posts on the CB either but it stays around big mistake closing the DB IMHO and the debates will start to pop up here I can guarantee it. Why wouldn't they we have no other place on here to do it now. So like those that reported posts to the moderators regarding posts on the DB should we now go through and report posts on here that do not conform to the Dis guidelines that is what it sounds like happened because some people didn't like the DB they complained about it big deal you don't like the board do not go to it easy as that.

No need to apologize. There was nothing to take personal in your post.
And you are absolutley correct that if people didn't like the DB, don't go.
Though there were posters I did "IGNORE", I never "reported" anybody to the moderators. No need to do that when the ability to ignore them was there.

While I have no problem with them closing the Debate Board (though I enjoyed it a great deal), I do have a problem with the excuse. Why not the Community Board or most of the others under "Just for Fun"? They aren't all about Disney either. As much as some complain, they obviously enjoy it or they wouldn't have visited or would have put some posters on ignore.

Thans Bobbles and you are correct there were threads I didn't care to see over there to so I just didn't go to them I just do not get why people who got upset by this didn't just stay away from it. To easy to try and get rid of something that upsets them I guess sucs that stuff like that happens but the squeeky wheel gets the grease you know.
