Dear Disney,

Please help make my trip more enjoyable!

Please give the CM's the ability to stop line jumpers, loud chanting, large groups sitting in front of the attractions, tour group leaders taking over the fast pass machines, and the scantily dressed, offense shirts, or other inappropriate attire in the parks. We would love to be part of an experience that all are equal and respect others but some are not able to do this and need more reminders of their impolite behaviors. I love coming to Disney and allowing the child in me come out again but I don't ruin other's experiences by chanting at the top of my lungs, taking flash photography on the rides, or wear a top or shorts that barely covers the necessities. Some need reminded that line jumpers go to the end of the line, tables are for those who purchase food at the resturant, and not to stand in front of someone sitting at the curb to watch the parade. Disney is where we are reminded that there are good manners and respect in the world. People hold doors open for someone struggling, people pay for the items in the shops, and thank you is used regularly. Disney is my magical place where I hope I can step back to the world that had niceness, people said hi to you, and I'm told often to have a magical day. Please help me with this small request and I will return to your magical place year after year.

I'm getting a front row seat for this one...I may even stop half way down the aisle to ensure maximum viewing pleasure...:rotfl2:

I'm just not sure why this might turn out bad ... and I hope I am not starting the "bad" but I don't think there are enough employees at WDW to act as "courtesy" police.

Sometimes you just have to turn the other cheek and ignore bad behavior (unless it is posing a true danger to others) ... I just don't let it bother me. I move on --

Peace! :flower3:

I think it's a good thought and I think that people should maintain a level of decency, modesty and respect for others. frankly, I don't see anything wrong w/ your letter and I hope you don't get flamed. I kind of agree w/SnwflkCts though. You have to look beyond a certain amount of that and just live your vacation and not worry about it.

My DH will tell you there's nothing better than a good freak show. So if someone's bum is hanging out of their shorts...well, it's good for a laugh. I can't worry about it. I agree about the chanting and screaming and blatant disrespect though. THAT is completely annoying and rude and good manners should prevail no matter where you are.

The only think that truly bothers me is hearing vulgar language. Especially when I've got my DD4. Since she repeats everything, I'd rather have her not say "How the flip are you Mickey!!!" :lmao: Just sayin...... If people would watch their language, that would be wonderful.

Other than that, I'm going to watch my DD have the time of her life.

These things really aren't unique to Disney. They occur every day all over the world. Do you really live in such a foul place that people steal and don't thank others?

and now for the rest of the post....

I posted this after reading so very many complaints lately on the boards. Everyone seems so agitated about everyone else at Disney and all seem frustrated on how to stop it. We all would like some kind of change at Disney for what agitates us the most while we are there, but in the real world, it doesn't seem to happen. My letter was a wish list, not to start any arguements or upset anyone, but to wish for a kinder, gentler time, for all who enjoy Disney.

Something good happens to you, you tell someone.
Something great happens to you, you tell 5.
Something bad happens, you complain to everyone.

If this is true, then Disney has a pretty good system. If you take into account of how many people go each day, they're doing a great job. They can't catch everything (or know what to do in it) and it seems DIS'ers are the sole victims of this. ;)

Dear Loyal Disney guest,

In researching how much it would cost to provide the additional staffing to accomodate your suggestions, we realized we would have to increase park tickets by $10 per day per guest. Most guests are not willing to pay this much, so we'll stick with our business model of having CMs do more with less.

But thank you for your constructive comments and we look forward to seeing you real soon!

To the OP - I think your letter is to the point and is not offensive. Since we travel to Dworld in either the spring and/or fall we have never encountered any of the tour groups. I can understand the position of some Diser's who have the "ignore and move on" attitude and also those who think something should be done about it. I can understand the reasoning that it would not be worth it to get into a confrontation with someone, but on the other hand a park guest should not feel threatened or intimidated by these large groups. Disney can certainly do something about this. It must be very annoying to be stuck on a bus with dozens of people chanting, tons of people cutting in line, blocking viewing areas, etc. Why can't Disney provide all guests (not just tour groups) with a list of what is and isn't acceptable behavior in the parks, hotels, transportation? The rules should be enforced so that the obnoxious behavior of a few does not spoil the experience for all.

I can get behind most of the things in the OP, but rather than directing the letter at Disney, I'd direct it at the guests themselves. While, I can see how empowering CMs might help in some circumstances, we've all witness how beligerant said guests can get. CMs don't get paid nearly enough to deal with a guest who berates them after being "corrected".

I think we need a good balance of personal responsibility, CM/managers politely speaking up when guests violate rules, and the rest of us learning which battles are just not worth fighting.

That's what I was wondering, don't you experience these things in real life or only in the "magic" of Disney? :confused3 Even I experience them every day and I live in the New York area ;)

And that's what it all boils down to.

If only your requests could come true but if you've had a bad day at Disney, just imagine how bad it would've been if you were somewhere else! Not much ruins the magic for us at WDW. We try to let it all go and just enjoy our time. :goodvibes
