I am looking for another timeshare to have different places to go. Dean has said many times accomodations at the exchanges available are not as nice as DVC. Add to that the difficulty of making an exchange. This TS would be for my DW and self. We like the point system for short visits, vary time of year to go, and flexibility to switch to other resorts with the same company. We generally will use a nice one bedroom maybe with a home resort in California or somewhere sunny. But if switching to another resort is easy, I guess the home resort really doesn't matter. Thanks for the input.

Marriott

HGVC

some of the bluegreen

(my opinion)

I don't include Fairfied because I dislike their sales people

We own two additional timeshares with Marriott. We've been to 6 of their properties so far and have not been dissapointed.

I've stayed at one of the Marriott properties in Orlando....it was VERY nice! ::yes:: LOVED it! If they are all like that, you will be happy in a Marriott!

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Palms in Orlando. You couldn't pay me to stay there again, and I will never again stay at a Wyndham time-share since that property was allowed to get in such poor shape. Ugh. Disgusting.

We had a similar experience at a Wyndham.

I say Marriott for consistency in quality of service and product. Hilton for flexibility of a points program. Of those two Marriott has more destinations.

We own at Marriott as well.

Dean is our resident timeshare expert and can give you much more information than I can.

A good place to look for advice is www.tug2.net, the timeshare users group (TUG).

Marriott and Hilton are both top quality.
Marriott is great because it has so many locations. But it is not as flexible for short stays (based mostly on week long stays), and many of their properties only have 2-br units.
Hilton is great for flexibility (1-br units and 3 or 4 day stays are no problem). But they have far fewer locations.

For west coast properties:
Marriott has 3 Palm Springs resorts, and 1 each in Newport Beach, Lake Tahoe, Phoenix, Oahu, Maui, 2 each in Kauai and Park City Utah, and 1 under construction in Las Vegas.
Hilton has 3 in Las Vegas, 2 in Honolulu, and 1 under construction in Kona.

FYI- The Timeshare Store, Inc. does handle these properties as well as the DVC packages.

Give us a call or E-Mail if you're interested!

I am starting my research on other properties with similar pariameters. We live in So. CA. Looking for something with flexiability. Very confused on Red, White and Platinum weeks. I think a flex week is better than a set week since we can travel any time during the summer (kids are out of school). We love to go to Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Disneyland, San Francisco and wouldn't mind anything with beach or lake access.

Any tips or pointers to what to look for and/or where to begin my research. I did join TUG but I am finding it difficult to learn about the different weeks.

Thank you

We traded our Marriott week for a week at Four Seasons Avaira .. which is north of San Diego. wow .. what a beautiful resort. Our 2 bedroom was huge.. very very nice. The living room/dining room area was twice the size of BWV. I think the sq. footage is 2200 ... somthing like that. I have no idea about how their TS program is. but loved the resort. We are planning on trading to their place near Scottsdale next.

Sorry, just got back into town. No one size fits all so you need to figure out what fits your needs best. Marriott and Hyatt will be the quality but with a much higher price. Consider Bluegreen and Worldmark as well as RCI points. It really depends on how you'd use it. If you need flexibility, one of the points system might be the best. Marriott will tend to have the same problem as DVC in many cases, many trades will be a down trade.
