Deals on hotels---vacancies???

Are there any great deals on Hotels now that the attendance is going down due to the events of Sept. 11th???

I would think that with all the people who have cancelled their trips, there must be quite a few vacancies.

I HAVE heard about a lot of vacancies. I have NOT heard of any great deals - YET! But I would think that they are coming.

There was an article in the online version of the Orlando paper indicating that lots of local hotels had "Cheap" rates posted on the signs in front of their hotels. I seem to recall they mentioned rates in the $20 range. (I have no idea what you get for that!)

I had been trying since early August to get AP rates at the Wilderness Cabins, with no luck. On Monday, I called and at first got the usual confused CM saying there weren't any discount rates (12/23 to 12/30/01). Then she said wait they've sent us messages about extending some of the rates. She said when she scrolled down to the bottom of her screen, she did find newly continued discount rates. I was able to book the Cabins (with two extra adults) for $ 159. She said they had been receiving cancellations for many days. While I certainly would not feel good about another's tragedy, I am glad Disney appears to have extended lower rates.

I too called and changed my October reservation from PO-Riverside to the Fort Wilderness Cabins. We also have four adults. Great AP rate of $160.

I have never stayed here before. What is the Murphy Bed like?

There are some pictures of the Cabins on the Deb Wills site www.wdwig.com under resorts. The bed folds up into the wall in the living room. It's great for people who like to cuddle, not necessarily for people who need a lot of room.

We love the quiet at Fort Wilderness and hope you'll enjoy the Cabins. I'm bringing Christmas decorations, too.
