We are heading to Disney for the first time next month. I have 5 teenagers and a 6 year old son who is deaf. Does anyone have any advise to make this trip a great one for everyone?

Have you posted this on the DISabilities thread? They often have great ideas. I know they do have amplification systems, but I do not know about interpreters. Enjoy your trip!

I have just happened upon shows that had a sign language interpretor before so I know they do have shows scheduled with one. It will probably require a bit more planning to catch the shows with interpretors since they don't have them at every show but will be so worth it for your family. Also...as someone else suggested - check out the DISabilities board, they are great and will have all the information you need.

You'll want to take a look at the guides for guests with disabilities before you leave. You can find a link to them on the disabilities board. You can also pick up copies of these great guides at guest relations in any of the parks, although some seem to be better stocked than others. The guides will tell you which shows have interpreters available and give you some other basic info. When there are no interpreters, many attractions/movies/shows offer captioning devices. Depending on how well your 6 y.o. reads, this may be an option. Finally, be sure to point out to your son that many cast members can sign. Just look for a pin with a signing hand on the CM's name tag.
