De Land, FL

We will be coming to Orlando in mid march with our 2 sons, ages 7 & 11, and want to take them to Daytona speedway and the beach at New Smyrna. We thought about staying in De Land, FL Comfort Inn for 2 nights because of its proximity to those places, and thought it would be better than staying in Daytona at that time of year with thousands of partying college kids.

Does anyone know if De Land is an ok place to stay overnight? What about New Smyrna Beaches?

Deland is a nice quiet smaller city (home of Stetson University).

I've passed thru there several times. I did stay at the Orange City Comfort Inn (5 miles from deland) once. The Deland Comfort Inn didn't exist at the time as it is a new hotel & a good choice. thanks for the reply smart cookie. we got a 20% discount through the "entertainment" book. Didnt realise we could get to the track without getting out on I-4! What resturants are in De Land?
