Bought my first two FIRM tapes today, and oh my what a train wreck in my cellar! :p If someone had been taping they would have made a quick $10,000.00. The daily abdominal tape actually went pretty well, but the mult-exercise whatever I bought was just beyond the pale. Now I remember why I never did go to aerobics classes! It got so bad that I was just boogieing around (laughing) kicking one way then another before finally jumping back on my treadmill. So much for variety! If anyone wants this tape, let me know and I'll send it to you for free. (And don't try to tell me I can practice and get the moves down-it's hopeless  )
Kathy:yo-yo:

Well, I will tell you you can learn the moves. :)

I'm the world's biggest clutz. I cannot dance; I didn't even dance with my wife at our wedding. bicker don't dance. However, I was able to eventually get the hang of The Firm, and have had incredible results with it.

If you truly want to get rid of it, I'll take it!! I'll be happy to pay you something for it!

However, you may want to start a little more slowly, like just do the first 5 minutes and get that part down, then add 5 more minutes, etc. until you work up to the whole tape. I bet you'd get the hang of it!

That's why I like doing it in the privacy of my own home!;)
Seriously, I am half way decent at these things, and I am not even close to keeping up. I try to keep moving when I lose them. I figure if I keep my heart rate up, at least I'm doing something! But the fanny lifter and ab section are great! Definitely will help you "firm" up!

From one "coordinationally challenged" excerciser to another. It usually takes me a good month to learn a new video, -- not very pretty!

You poor thing...........I totally understand. I still have a few moves to get down, and I did one last night that I only did once before and I gave up and went to bed, lol!

Really, these are not easy and they take time. They are fun though. They are addictive too once you get over that I can't do them hurdle.

At least try it a few more times before making a decision. Just remember that I still have problems and I got mine back in September of last year. Plus I keep adding tapes, so it will be forever till I have everything down.

Which ones did you get??? Maybe I can help break it down for you? Also, getting used to the terminology helps. Once you learn what a Plyo, bunny hop, calf pump etc is, it gets much easier. Start with no weights and don't use your arms on the fanny lifter........unless you are doing it without!

I can relate as I am the opposite of coordinated- but I promise after a month or so you will get it. Don't give up! At least there aren't others around to laugh!!!! Feel free to laugh at yourself though! It is good for you! I always yell at the lady leading the class...it makes me feel better!!!!:hyper:

Not every tape agrees with every person. Some FIRM tapes have little or no steps to master. Think about concentrating on your upper body and using light or no weights. In the beginning, I found the Upper Body segments more to my liking & I GRADUALLY got better at Lower Body with some aerobics. If you liked the AB tape, stick with that tape. My DH has used FIRM AB Sculpt in conjunction with short Upper Body segments & has shown great results. He has major knee problems, 2 surgeries, but found his way to work around the limitation.
Every day should be filled with some laughter. You just didn't expect it from the FIRM. But it is great to be able to laugh at yourself.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the encouragement! I think I will probably not give this particular tape another try, but the upper body one sounds like it would be up my alley. My friend is starting a routine again and gets bored easily so she thinks the tape will work for her. I am loaning it to her for a couple weeks to see how it goes, and if she gives it back I will let you know Doe!
Thanks again,
Kathy

I got a Denise Austin tape for Christmas. My SIL and I tried to do it together and we just couldn't. She went so fast. All we could figure was that it was meant for advanced aerobics type people who knew all the moves already.

It was pretty darned funny to watch, though. My mil, dh and ds got a huge laugh from our efforts ;)

Some of The Firm tapes DO have to many moves and some are perfect! I have not used any of the new Firm's that are out. I've got the old stuff and I love most of it. My favorite tape is "Better Body and Buns". There are absolutely no moves to master--you CAN get it the first time. Both the Tough Tapes (1 & 2) are also easy to do. On the advice of many people, I ordered their Fat Blaster and I just hated. Reminded of the dancey aerobics of the 80s. No matter how many times I did it, I just could not like it. If you are still interested in doing The Firm, go to half.com or one of the type websites and order some of the older tapes I mentioned above. I think you'll like them.

I saw this and just LOL! I can so relate to you. I tell you what i did was do the 20 min ab tape LOVE LOVE LOVE that baby and a 2 mile watp tape. Rotate them out and if your feeling really great go for both of them! I used them a lot before i finally joined a gym last month.

Thanks so much for the tips folks! I really appreciate it. And Doe I haven't forgotten you-if my friend send the tape back my way it's yours!
Kathy

Thanks, Kathy - no worries! :p
