I had posted here a little while ago that DD5 is getting her tonsils and adnoids out. Well, it's here. We are driving up to a hotel near the surgery center tonight, and she has to be there at 8:30am.

We explained to her (yesterday) what is going to happen. She is VERY excited about staying in a hotel with mommy & daddy & NOT DS2!!

I am really starting to get nervous. I don't know how I'm gonna tell her that she gets NO breakfast, not even anything to drink after 6:30am, and before that (after midnight) she can only have water or clear juice...neither of which is her preferred liquid, she's a milk girl.

Oh well, just wanted to get that out! Wish us luck!!!

Remind her that she gets to eat ice cream after everything is done. Hope all goes well.

Thoughts and prayers for you, your daughter and the surgical team. I'm sure everything will be just fine. Keep us posted!!

I hope everything goes smoothly. :)

My DS had tubes put in his ears earlier this year and while we were there there were several older toddlers getting tonsils and adnoids out. All did fine...and I know the little boy next to us was really excited about getting ice cream afterwards!

My DD just had hers out in June. I was going through the same thing you are (although my DD was older). You're a Mom and naturally you are going to worry.

Try to let her stay up a little late (then maybe she'll sleep a little longer in the morning). Or what we did was woke my DD up a few minutes before the cut off hour) and let her eat a little something.

I know how your feeling Mom, I was in her room crying as my DH brought her down for the anesthesia. Hang in there.

I will say a little prayer for your DD & you too! Let us know how she does.

I just said a quick prayer that your daughter has an easy time with this surgery and that she is not too upset about not being allowed to drink milk before her surgery.

Good luck, sweetie. I hope the surgery is easy and that your daughter has an uneventful recovery. Keep us posted?

I will be thinking of your DD tomorrow, I hope all goes well. Get the ice cream ready!

thanks for the prayers and well wishes. I'll post just as soon as I can!

Just wanted to quickly share... I had my tonsils and adnoids taken out last year and had one heck of a sore throat for about a week. Ice pops and jello were great, and after a couple days, soup was good as well.

Prayers and pixie dust to you and your daughter so that she feels better soon.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. They DEFINITELY helped! She did GREAT yesterday. The hardest part for her was taking the liquid "happy juice" which was a combination of tylenol & a mild tranquilizer to relax her before they took her away from us. She didn't want that AT ALL & spit most of it out. The little amount she took in helped & she was fine leaving us a few minutes later.

About 45 minutes later, we were brought into recovery to see her. She slept for another hour or so, until she overheard the nurse offer DH and I an icee, she popped right up & said "I want one!". Then her next move was to proudly open her mouth and stick out her tongue and ask us to double check that her tonsils were gone!

We were out of the surgery center and on our way home about 3 hours after we arrived! She's been taking her pain meds every 4 hours around the clock, like a trooper. She has eaten non-stop, and is drinking with no problem. The first thing she wanted when we got home yesterday was marshmellows! I was ecstatic b/c the nurse told us to make sure she eats chewy stuff like gum, gummy bears, so the marshmellows worked great.

Anyway, thanks again for the well wishes. So far, so good!!

Next hurdle.....kindergarten in 3 weeks!!!:wave2:

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear everything went well. I know what it's like having to watch the nurses take your child away to surgery...a very helpless feeling. More prayers and pixie dust to a speedy recovery although it sounds like she's already there! :)
