I called to book a reservation yesterday that included 1 night at Pop Century, 2 day park tickets and I requested the DDP. I was told that the DDP could not be added to a 1 night reservation.

Is this correct? I know we did this in the past but wondered if it is the current standard? I've attempted to verify online today if I could add the DDP to a 1 night reservation but keep getting an error message stating that room reservations cannot be booked at this time.

TIA!

I have never heard of this...I know if the past people have actually booked split stay reservations so they would not have to pay for the dining plan for their entire stay. I just went online to see if I could verify that as well, but I am getting the same error message. Disney servers must be down :(

Thanks @StirlingSilver83! I will continue to investigate this once the servers are back up.

The package is a wedding gift a friend is buying for her nephew and bride-to-be. She will give them $ for dining but would prefer to purchase the DDP if she could.

yes it is correct. there is a 2 night minimum. you can split your stay but can't get the plan for just one night. The exception to this is DVC.

Do you know when this changed @Lisa F? We stayed in November of 2014 and purchased the DDP with a 1 night stay at Pop Century.
I don't know when it changed but it has been my understanding since I started looking into it a few months ago. Those kind of policy changes i think happen on a yearly basis so either for 2015 or 2016 i'd imagine, I don't think they change them mid year
