We are DVC members and the past two years we have done the DDP. After hearing about Tables in Wonderland I got to wondering if TiW is a better option than the DDP. We usually only do one table service meal a day of that influences the answers.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, tips and other things to consider.

You don't give enough info. How many meals will you be having at covered restaurants over the course of the one year you will have the card? Are any of these restaurants covered by any other discounts?

At $125 for the TIW card, you need to spend $625 at restaurants without the DVC discount to break even. If all the restaurants you eat at has the DVC discount, then the break even amount is $1,250.

The good news is that alcohol is covered by TIW.

I have the card. But I also was going for more than 4 weeks over a one year period. My wife and I also like to have a beer or a cocktail at dinner. I look at it as my 'Tip Free' card. I pay the whole bill and the TiW covers the tip amount.

You must have bought your card last year. The price for DVC now is $150 not $125 which puts the break even point at loser to over $700 spent in a year just to cover the costs of the card.
For us, it works as the DDP is just WAY too much food and the places that offer the AP/DVC/Disney Visa discount are not normally places we eat and DH drinks so I do get the discount on his bar tab most of the time.

If you eat mostly TS and/or drink, TIW can be beneficial. It also is great if you just order aps & dessert for example. But this year maybe the last year I do it for the cost. I'm keeping a spreadsheet to see if it's worth it.
Last year, I went over the break even point but not by much.

I've done both, I have a current TIW right now but probably won't renew it when it expires. We like a refreshing adult beverage, which is not on the DDP and not covered by the AP discount so TIW comes in handy. I did notice last week when we were there that fewer places seem to be accepting it but that is sort of fluid. We got it last May when it was myself, my son and then daughter-in-law and we knew we would be paying more than $500 for food and alcohol (we actually broke even our second night there). Since I go solo most of the time, I doubt if I'd eat/drink $700 even during the course of two 5 day trips, that is taking into account the fact that not all places take the card. I don't use the DDP plan any more because it really was just too much food for me, I tend to eat a kid's meal for breakfast and lunch just because I'm a light eater and more often than not at a TS I'll have an app and a salad, again just not a heavy eater. You really just need to run the numbers and take into account how your family actually likes to eat.

We will only go once in 2017, for two weeks. Sorry, I didn't realize that part made a difference....shoulda figured I guess. :joker:

You can have our "refreshing adult beverage" :hippie:. We are a dry family now (almost 2 years....hardly seems possible), so that is not an expense we have to figure in anymore :flower:. However, we do now have the added consideration of feeding our son.....but even then, we generally only do two meals a day - one counter and one sit-down.

I appreciate the feedback I've gotten so far. It has given me things to consider. Woohoo!!! Another spreadsheet to make and work on. And to think, I should be doing my Latin homework. :teacher:

If you have an AP you might be better off with that then the TIW since you don't enjoy a refreshing adult beverage. Added bonus, there may be more places that accept that then the TIW.
