HI :)

I am in the midst of planning a February trip and I am thinking of purchasing the Dining Plan. It will just be me and my DF and well, we like to eat a LOT on vacation! :thumbsup2 So I think it would be worth it for us. Reading about the DDP, I saw that it comes down to about $95 a day.. is that per person or for two people, or am I wrong? What does it come down to, per day? I just want to make sure it is not more than we would be paying for dining without the DDP. Also, we are planning to go for 10 days.

Also, can you purchase the DDP on it's own, or do you need to buy a MYW package? And you have to stay at a Disney Resort to get the DDP, correct?

Thank you everyone! :goodvibes

I think it is more like $35 a day per person and you have to have a MYW package to get it, although DVCers I think have a way of getting it... NOt sure about that. I spent a long time with the menus at the various restaurants a couple of trips ago to see whether it would be worthwhile for the two of us and found it definitely was for us. We like signature restaurants and would eat in them even if we were not on DP. We don't usually get desserts, but we do like appetizers and salads as well as an entree. If you go to a nice restaurant each nite and have a good breakfast and small lunch you are way over the $35 per day per person.

By February, it will be $38.99 per adult per night, while the discounted price for young children remains $10.99. In order to purchase the Dining Plan, you must either be staying at a Disney-owned WDW resort on a qualifying MYW vacation package which includes admission purchase, or staying at a DVC resort on DVC points (or through an II exchange).

Here are links to my calculations for me and my party next February. The first is the pie-in-the-sky calculation, showing how much it would be worth if we always ordered appetizers and dessert. The second is a very conservative calculation, showing how much it would be worth if we NEVER ordered appetizers and desserts. (Of course, reality would be somewhere in between.) As you can see, we save money with the Dining Plan either way:

Thanks, you have both been so helpful!! Have a magical day! :wizard:

I think the DDP is definitely worth it if you like to eat. Look over the menus and use your TS credits for dinner at sit down restaurants. Keep in mind that the DDP includes your tax and 18% gratuity. Our bill for two people at Le Cellier was over $100.00 and our bill for two at Kona Cafe was almost $100.00. Our dinners alone covered the DDP. We thought it was great.

We just returned from WDW with the DDP. We had 10 days free and had to purchase the other 5. It was definitely worth it. We used TS twice for character breakfasts, not the best savings but we had the credits to use. Every other time it was for dinner and most of them were in the $100 range for two people. If we didn't realy want dessert, we would have the restaurant box it up and take it back to our room. Since we drove, we had an ice chest in the room that kept everything cold, so I had white chocolate cheescake from Kona Cafe for breakfast one morning.
