OK, I have another newbie question. I'm pretty sure I know the answer and it's probably kind of a dumb question, but I said I'd ask, just to double check. If we rent points and my parents go with us, what we want to do (if we can get the points we need) is get a 2 bedroom villa to split with them (it would be us, 5 yo DS and my parents). The three of us are definite on wanting to do the deluxe dining plan, it's one of the reasons we're looking into switching from our already scheduled September trip with the bounceback free dining to going in November with renting points--to buy the deluxe plan instead of the regular DP. My question is, with DVC, when you buy a dining plan, it's the same rule as with normal WDW package reservations, right? In other words, everyone in your party has to be on the dining plan if some of you are? Because my parents were wondering if they would have to buy the dining plan just because we were. I said I was pretty sure they did because I'm more familiar with normal WDW reservations where everyone in the room has to be on the same package. But, I said I'd pose the question here to the experts just to double check for them. I think, ideally, they'd like the regular dining plan, so would we be able to split the members of our party staying in the same villa to two different dining plans? Again, I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I'm being nice and thorough for them so that I can say I asked at least. Then they can figure out if they want to go along and I can figure out if I need to rent enough points for a one or two bedroom villa. Thanks for the help! :goodvibes

Thanks for the response. That's what I thought. My Dad doesn't eat much--he had surgery a couple years ago to remove his esophagus and reconstruct a new one due to cancer, and he still doesn't eat a ton, but he still loves good food, so he still likes to go to the restaurants, but not eat a full meal. So, he and my Mom like to split meals a lot, and she's worried about using all the credits. I'm thinking a lot of 2 credit places might be good for them, maybe. My Dad had to have surgery to remove his esophagus and reconstruct one from part of his stomach (I think was how it worked), due to esophageal cancer a couple years ago. He still doesn't eat big meals, but he loves good food, so he'd go to all the restaurants, but he and my Mom would be more likely to share meals than eat a full meal themselves. So she's wondering about using up all the credits. What I'm kind of thinking now, though, is if we'd be staying in a villa, they could bring leftovers back to the room and reheat later. My Dad is more on a several small meals throughout the day kind of schedule than three big meals a day, so that might work for him, to order the meal, eat part of it, bring the rest back to the room to reheat later as a small meal.

We did that quite often when using a villa. Brought back the dessert for breakfast or late nite snack. Using 2 crdt dining options sounds like it will work also. Guess it all depends on whether you all would like to dine together every day or not.
