we are travelling from the UK In April for 18 nights and we are still unsure as to wether to do the dining plan or not. we are 2 adults and 2 kids who will be 6 and 4. Our normal routine is to eat a CS for lunch and a TS for dinner and we would probably do 2 character breakfasts throughout the trip. So far i have 2 breakfasts and 8 TS that i absolutely must do, but i also have a reserve list of more than enough to fulfill the dining plan.

Our normal eating habits would be an entree and dessert at our TS so no appetiser is not an issue and if we fancy one would just order OOP, however I'm not sure we would order the kids a meal each if we were paying OOP. We are pretty much sticking to disney for our whole trip and would like to manage without a car as my husband does a lot of driving for his job, but if we decide to go without the plan then we would probably hire a car and eat offsite for some meals.

Just not sure what to do :confused3

Hey it sounds like you and I are on the same quest.. I am trusting that all persons on this board will give us help.
Enjoy your time at Disney..We have 332 days and I can't wait.
Blessings to you

Based on what you are saying I think I would go with the plan.
You have planned to stay onsite the entire time
You have two children so their DDP can't be beat
You have no desire to order apps
You have Charater meals planned--here's where you can make the kids credits work for you--use kids credits for the children's Character breakfasts and pay OOP for the adults.
At a few of the TS venues have the kids share a kids meal.
At CS though you cannot order more than you have on the card--2 adults, 2 children--you can order less--2 adults and one children's meal so you still will not be wasting food and then the children can share another CS meal later if they are hungry.

Just an aside, but if my children were still considered children for the price point I would definately get the DDP. Even with tips OOP it is a very fair dael and with any plan at any TS that is dinner show, character buffett or just buffett, the DDP can not be beat as a money saver. We sadly, have no plans for anything other than traditional table service, enjoy appetizers over dessert and will be paying OOP rather than using the DDP in its new form.

I would say deffinately get the dining plan it will save you money. then just pay out of pocket for anything additional you want to do. Just remember tips are not included anymore.
