We will be heading down either in Nov. or Dec. for at least 8 nights and have tried the 07 DDP and loved it but are not thrilled about the lack of app's for 2008.
It will be my wife, my daughter (4) my son (2) and myself. We will do at least 4 character meals, Sci Fi, LTT, Le Cellier, maybe a sig. or two. We enjoy TS restaurants and the break they provide from the walking/heat.
Please suggest whether we should try the Deluxe plan or stick with the regular plan.
Feel free to ask me questions.
Thanks

See your list and the facts that you enjoy sit down, and are planning on Sig locations, then I would suggest doing the deluxe plan. Not everyone likes the deluxe but it sounds like it would fit your family dining style and choices.

Just a note... that none of the 2008 plans include the gratuity.

I remember that one for sure....thanks

I always tell people that it depends on several things:

1) If this is your first trip or not. If it is, you won't be spending as much time in the parks with deluxe dining. If you've done all the parks before at least once, It would be okay.

2) If you have your own car. If you get deluxe dining, you probably will be dining at quite a few resort restaurants. It's much harder getting to and from the resorts from your resort with disney transportation than if you could drive yourself.

3) Picky eaters. If you have people in your party that don't eat much or are very picky, I would do the regular dining plan so that you wouldn't be wasting your hard earned dollars on food that will be thrown away.

4) Whether or not you eat at TS locations. If you eat mostly fast food or counter service or only order 1 appetizer, share an entree, etc. your not going to get your value.

5) Small children. If you get the deluxe, you'll have to eat at least a few very late dinners. If you eat earlier, you'll probably be still full from lunch so if you have small children who normally go to bed early, this probably won't work. The only thing you can do is eat a breakfast, then skip lunch and do a signature meal for dinner around 6 or 7pm which is still a decent time for toddlers to be eating. You could do snacks for lunch if anyone is hungry.

After considering all this, you can decide whether or not you want to upgrade to deluxe.

I agree with TiggerDad3 that the DlxDDP sounds like a better fit for your family.

On our upcoming December trip I decided that the DlxDDP was a better option for us. I made a list of all the places that were must tries this trip. We want to go to CRT for breakfastand dinner and the Luau at the Poly. I didn't want to do any CS this trip. I really hate waiting in long lines behind people that wait until they get to the register to decide what they want, and argue with their kids about what they want. I only wanted to do TS's, so with that in mind we booked with the DlxDDP. I know it's a lot of food, but we're going into knowing that we are not going to eat all of the food that is brought to us.

I agree with your posts and think it would be a better fit for us. Now it just depends if we are able to go concierge or not, if so we will do the DDP, if not, the deluxe.
thanks
