DDP or DDE????

My mom is a FL resident, and could get a DDE card (20% off for your party of 10 or less at most restaurants...well at least all the ones that I like) for $85, and it's good for a whole year. OR, we could pay $120 each for the four of us for the DDP for our trip in July. What do you suggest? Anyone have the DDE?

A few places I'd like us to go: Liberty Tree Tavern, Le Cellier, Fantasmic Dinner at Mama Melrose's.

If it is 85 dollars then that means you would break even at 425.00 worth of spending on food and drinks
Also the DDE card covers alcoholic drinks as well, and the Dining plan does not. So that can also be taken into consideration if you drink.
So it really depends on how many days you would stay there on the meal plan, and how many other days throughout the year you would use it.

I think you need to sit down and work out what you would spend with the dining plan, including OOP items and then compare it to what you would pay using DDE including the $85.

For us, unless it is free DDP then we stick with DDE, but we like sit down meals

I think a big factor is how you eat at WDW.. meaning do you like counter service? signature restaurants? what quanity of food?

For us, the DDE is much better then the dining plan because we eat at at least 2, sometimes 3, of the signature places and rarely eat counter service. Also, the amount of food in the dining plan is too much for us.

I think we are going with the DDP. We don't drink, so there is no advantage there, and 20% is not even tax and tip, really.

We do this too. We never eat CS meals and we saved a lot of money with the DDE card on our last trip. We saved $50 at Hoop Dee Doo alone (We saved a total of approx. $300 for four adults during the whole trip). We loved it. But of course they just had to go up on their prices this year  , but we got it when it was cheaper. My mom got an AP last year so we also saved money from the discounts at World of Disney and Basin in DTD (both of which I love) and on our room with the AP discount. In fact, we probably wouldn't be going to WDW again this year if she didn't have an AP, DDE, and we all have 6 days left on our non expiration passes.
